Explain this to like im 5y old. Blizzard made this whole “hurt yourself for tavern spell discount” mechanic for demon tribe right? guess what is the main problem with it? IM SPENDING HALF MY TURN WATCHING ANIMATIONS. Murlocs are fine, smelly broken tier 2 elementals are doing great, stacking beast is easy as hell, even pirate APM is sooth as butter if u compare it with demons. BLIZZARD DIDN’T DO poop ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE TRINKETS META.
You can still play cards during the animations. There’s many builds with lots of animations triggering. Dragons for one can setup a long end of turn trigger that continues for 30 seconds or longer along with lots of triggers while playing cards. IT’s just something you have to get used to because it’s not going away.
It’s not something to be “used to”, its’a a game engine flaw that’s make a whole tribe unplayable. There are a lot of animation triggers with some tribes but nothing is as toxic as being stuck in self-harm animation loop with demons dude. I CANT PLAY THE GAME AS DEVS INTEDENT.
What do you mean when you say we are ‘missing a mechanic’?
I feel like BG’s can do what normal HS can’t by completely shrinking the stats and power levels of everything. They made a lot of choose one cards instead of battlecries, and it’s just very difficult to produce huge stats. I suspect they wanted to make smaller minions and less ‘out of control’ end of turn animations, etc.
That specific issue wasn’t noticeable to me until the new season. Now there are turns I literally miss the opportunity to buy/place minions because everything becomes unresponsive.
Mobile BGs are a bad experience for multiple reasons (I have to use a screen magnifier to see some of the text, APM is extremely difficult, etc.). The animation thing is very real, there were times in the past that every Malchezaar, lord of the dance trigger of rewinder could cause a 3-4 second lag while very slow animations played out. Multiply that by 3-6 and forget half your turn.
I’ve just decided I’m ok with never getting much above high 7000s/low 8000s because you have to be able to push crazy APM at that point to compete.
What I find dumb about this tribe, is that if you get the 2 cost minion (that you know which one I mean) then it’s easy mode to top 4 in most cases, because many people have been burned too many times by fixating to demons too early without the 2 cost minion so they do not even start with a demon board.
One time recently I got the hero that refreshes with the opponent’s minions which made it easy mode against even 1 more demon board in the lobby .
In the top 4 the other guy was actually very smart because he dropped at least half his demons probably because of me and he ended up higher.
Rewinder builds really suck right now because the self damage scaling really isn’t there.
You need to build demons with tavern eating and not self damage builds if you want to do well, and the tavern eating builds are a lot harder to do now.
You can almost always do better with another tribe. Quil Just scales really well and beetles scale so hard in the mid game that it easily makes top 4.
I rarely see anyone going demons because everyone knows it’s fairly bad.
Playing BG’s on mobile phone is impossible even without animation issues. I’ve done it on a tablet and it’s only slightly better. It was really meant for PC.
Like having Buddies, Trinket or quests or something along those lines. It makes the game much more interesting.
The games are actually more accelerated than previous seasons and builds can hit several hundred per minion if done correctly. The only difference is how you do it and how much more difficult it is.
I’m going to assume you are talking about Soul Rewinder. That’s actually a trap minion that is only good for early economy and tempo. The true demon for negation is Archimonde because it is the enabler for the big stat demon build. They lowered it to tier 4 for a reason. You couldn’t get that build online as easy at Tier 5. At tier 4 it’s much easier to find and golden one.
When you hit that wall. Spend your time in that rating forcing menagerie. Look for any combos that will work together. Those combos are that you may be missing and now are learning will greatly increase your placement in each game.
It is extremely rare for a straight tribe build to ever go from Turn 1 to the end and make top 3. There needs to be some variety in the build. It could be in the mid game or in the end as you are making small adjustments in top 4 to beat each player.
I said mainly for high probability to go top 4. Even 1 Wrath Weaver and 1 Soul Rewinder are an extreme powerhouse until everyone is at least level 3 or 4 because ANY demon found just becomes extreme value.
The catch is you’ll kill yourself if you only get 2 Wrath Weavers and start spamming demons on them which is why I think it’s so easy to find Wrath Weavers so 2 Wrath Weavers and 1 rewinder is easy mode.
It might be a trap if it’s alone. I found that 2 Wrath Weavers and 1 rewinder is the most easy mode way to go top 4. Even 1 Wrath Weaver and 1 rewinder is good in most cases.
But I mainly talk about low-ish ranks, and I said from the start it was for top 4 only.
I think you’re right and I think that’s exactly what this meta needs is something like that. The Nagas are fun and the tier 4 gold pirate is really fun, but some of the stuff I’ve not figured out yet.
Sure at low rating in BG’s you might make a 4th place with a Wrath Weaver still sitting on your board but that’s not normal. Those Weavers will NEVER scale as fast as other builds that exist.
What the Wrath DOES give you is an early game that allows you to level with relative safety until you can find something better to play on tier 4. Then you dump that build in favor of something much better.
We are getting a mechanic to BG’s mid season but that’s a ways off yet. So right now it’s basically just learning all the combos that are available.
That’s a tier 5 spell. Too far into the game to hope to get that. Sure if you are lucky it might be worth it but maybe not. Ironically that card is mostly used to eat minions in the tavern that are buffed through the roof and make those temporary buffs into permanent buffs. Effects like that are far too powerful though and would take away decision making early in the game.
