How to improve protoss

I also figured today that the Priest is probably the most brutal Colossus user, it’s a tossup I guess (with the Mothership) but their chances are good.

Colossus is probably the first thing to be nerfed because the way it clears boards is as bad as an unnerfed Reno because it also does face.

I think colossus itself is fine, as it takes time to build, and it’s not like we haven’t seen mage build towards some big OTK in the past.

If there is to be a nerf, I think it could go towards the pieces that build towards it.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be a nerf to how fast mage builds to their OTK, but their ability to defend themselves. Like resonance coil doing just 1 less damage would mean it can’t remove a lot more things (on the flip side, 4 damage means it might leave something alive for photon cannon, so it might be a sort of tsunami nerf/buff situation)

It’s not only mage. The biggest impact might be by Priests using it.

What are you gonna do: nerf their basic arsenal of copying cards?

This is a highway to a Colossus nerf(the “sentiment” will help too).

I hear ideas on how to counter it (silence the Mothership?).

I wouldn’t be against that. It’s not like we haven’t seen priest do absurd things because they copy (and steal, and maybe discover) things (read: the same annoying thing) multiple times.

Granted part of this is because of last expansion of a rotation and it’ll settle itself eventually, but maybe a light tap wouldn’t hurt to hold us over until them.

Though I’m saying all this without looking at the stats if priest is actually a problem.

I wouldn’t bet on that. They will likely get similar toys this year, maybe not next expac necessarily.

They need to redesign protoss cards to blend with hearthstone cards… like half of protoss cards only apply to protoss cards (the mana reductions)… completely useless in decks that dont play protoss cards. Not sure how you can balance the cost reductions to apply to hearthstone proper cards, but forcing the issue makes half of the sets cards useless when trying to deckbuild other decks

I only experimented with it to see how the rewards worked out with the way the deck plays. The ability to get good and multiple minions and then getting a free titan later was very helpful in keeping the deck lean on spells to make Dryscale and rewind as efficient as possible.

I tend to avoid making decks that use the standard template cards unless they are too good to pass up. Just how i play.

It certainly looks that way as the Priest Decks become more refined. They have somehow figured out a build that navigates the early game which is priests biggest weakness ATM.

That would be extremely overpowered probably, because Colossus would turn to like 60 damage too early with just one of them (and Priests can easily have 4 or more).

I see it happening if the card effects are nerfed at the same time.

Yep, aggro protoss mage is doing well enough even through all of the nonsense in this meta. The popular stall lists are the bad ones.

This is the one that could easily be broken if blizz buffs it (I swapped a warp drive for Bob)

As was mentioned earlier, you don’t need to waste all day making Colossus an OTK level threat if your opponent is sub 15 health by the time you can play one.

Nobody is buffing anything. Next patch is only nerfs. Prepare your dust banks.

I feel like Rogue has a similar thing going on. The deck is much more effective when I all in on getting the archons out early.

You just lose or people armor out of range when you try and hold off until you can combo.

It is nice to have cover artist and sonya shenanigans for a second launch, but i feel like maybe the deck should just run more early game minions for chip dmg

Was thinking the same thing today a more aggro heavy deck

Guys they server sided fixed the bug for groovy cat.

I just ran one game, and ran into a sloooooow terran paladin.

Between starship, unkilliax, hydration station, mind control tech, and the tradeable silence (yes my deck really hates greedy big minions), I stalled him to fatigue.

Artanis with 5 or more attack while giving 2 divine shields basically mean I was controlling his board hard.

2nd game vs protoss priest

Knowing I can’t go for long game, I kept artanis in mulligan.
Got lucky opening with groovy cat into gift->wild growth.
Drew silence dude on turn 1, this turned out to be good.
Chrono boost on 4 to draw pylon.

He used location to drop mother ship on his turn 6. I silenced it and kept going face. He was down to 10.

He removed my board. Pylon-> artanis → hero power. Because of groovy cat, that’s 6/4 + 3/4 + my own swing for 3. Leeroy would be proud.

I also had another gift (swipe) in hand. My deck list was still starships but I can see a more aggressive version.

They finally fixed the interaction of artanis hero power and groovy cat, attack druid is getting more popular by the looks of it.

I put in my rogue deck only the 4 manas spell you draw two protoss card and get a 3/4, what is fine by their own and amazing when you play in turn 2 with prep, x2 of the fusion dance minions, the 2 manas 3 damage and the hero card.

The 2 manas combo card is terrible crap and the 3 manas 3/1 have no impact at all.

These cards I don’t put give more space to survive the early game what is the big issue of this deck.

For some reason I play 8 games today and not a single one against zerg DK, I don’t know if was insane luck or if have any deck pushing them out of the meta, either way Protoss rogue feels a lot more playable now than day 1.

Solid looking list. Playing for the board is key with the Protoss Mage. Not doing that ensures a loss IMO.

Yeah, the faster you get your opponent’s HP down, the less you need to build up your Colossus. I’ve had a lot of games that I win with Colossus only at like, 8 total damage because that’s enough.

crazy as it sounds, do ya think MCT might be better than BOB? i know BOB is more versatile but man is MCT better against the dungar turn.

It very well may be, I just hate the card and refuse to play it on principle.
