How to fix the meta in Standard Ranked

TL:DR: Remove effects from Zilliax and nerf Lamplighter

  • Zilliax poison or reborn removed (this is by far the most annoying card in the entire game to deal with when it has reborn,x2 divine shields and poison)

  • Lamplighter damage increases by 1 for each 2 Elementals you played (up from 1)

  • Hydration station is once per game

  • Bomboss’s TNT destroys 2 cards instead of 3

  • Horizon’s Edge location has 1 less charge

  • Carefree Cookie spawns a minion of the same cost instead of being 1 more

  • Sleep Under the Stars becomes choose twice instead of thrice

  • Shadowstep becomes 1 cost instead of 0

  • Seabreeze Chalice becomes 2 cost instead of 1

  • Deepminer Brann cost reduced but effect only lasts for the next 3 battlecries

These are most of the cards breaking the Meta right now.

Most attention is required towards Warrior abusing Zilliax, Hydration Station and Sleep Under the stars and towards Rogue and Mage abusing Lamplighter (mostly Rogue)

If you implement these tunings, the meta will instantly become 50 times more fun to play.

An important note is to fix the power level of Tourists for classes that got the short stick…

Some tourists, such as Demon Hunter’s priest tourist and Death Knight’s Shaman tourist are borderline complete garbage.

And while one may argue that the Demon Hunter Pirate deck is strong, the playstyle is the furthest thing from fun - it’s completely one-dimensional faceroll or get facerolled faster.

The current Meta just goes too fast and is built upon cheesy 1 shots (I have literally never died so many times from 30-0 in a single turn in any other meta), unbeatable 1 minion boards (Warrior spawning 10 Ziliaxes per game) and most non-Warrior games tend to end within 5-6 turns, which is completely unfun.

Speaking all of this from the perspective of somebody who has gotten to legend many times, and doesn’t enjoy broken cards not being looked at.

Next time atleast learn the original effects of the cards.

Right after those go live i can think of 5 different decks that would become just as “Toxic”. Too many radical changes at once only push up the decks knocking on the door into the position of those that were oppressive before. You need to make more gradual changes.

If they do this we will end facing handbuff paladin 80% of the time, i prefer the things to stay like this.
About your ideas

  • Zilliax is Ok (as 1) make the keywords a battlecry, maybe only the virus module

  • I think that made lamplighter way too low dmg, i think more mana is better, strong cards can and should exist

  • Station is Ok, the problem is 100 Zilliax, is 8 cost summon stats

  • Bomboss, i hate this card so 1 TnT Destroy your own deck

  • Ok, with the location change, is not a big problem for me, but i get it

  • Cookie change= Location->10 mana 8/8->11mana 8/5 reborn rush->infinite ressumon. My biggest problem with cookie is that if it summon a taunt you can be forced on a loop, “kill taunt, evolve into taunt, kill taunt” Cookie is great on a agroo matchup since you can clear the opponent and get a new board

  • Sleep is fine, strong cards existing is ok, also is 7 mana. maybe 1 mana gain 5 armor or 1 mana draw 2 (assuming you recover with the other 2), the problem is that they have 15 mana and way to fast

  • Blizz is never gonna touch shadowstep, they dont hit it before with more annoying problems, will not be touched now

  • Calice 2 cost will just made you need 2 Concierge on druid, this will hurt mage more than druid, and you also want to nerf elemetal deck

  • Brann is a bad desing card, you cant go control or value vs it, they will always outvalue you
    About the other classes

  • I would add Paladin nerfs, the weapon, maybe other handbuff, not sure. I still think Leeroy is the problem (or the other charges), maybe the cloth stat giver shoudl have the line, this cant go face this turn

  • Overheal priest is ok, is a skilled deck (I think) if you pilot it ok, you are ok, pilot like a god and you are god, vulnerable to a lot of disruption

  • Warlock need a nerf if you nerf everything else, fatigue warlock is still a very good agro/combo deck

  • Hunter need some love, not sure what

  • About DH… Delate DH

  • I would like that cutlass deal 3 dmg, so burgle rogue is better

Also make Marin give 3 treasures so is not 100% consistent, I hate how wand is choosen like 95% of the time

So nerf all the good cards and hope that decks that play bad cards are suddenly viable?

I agree that bomboss is bad and shadowstep is bad and should be changed and I would add sonya to that list as well… I also think that marin needs to be deleted from the game, but outside zilliax spam limiting minion based decks the only thing ‘breaking the meta’ is the awful hunter set because that class has all but disappeared.

Its definitely not the most fun hearthstone has been but I think theres actually quite a lot of variety and counters available to the annoying decks. The only thing I’d like to see is some hunter (and therefore priest) buffs and mabye some buffs to the warrior set (and as a side effect hunter) so they can play something else but zillax spam.

Balance is NOT about nerfing all of the powerful things and just crossing your fingers, hoping that what follows is better. Players will always play all of the most powerful things, or at least what seems like it to them.

Balance is about having as many powerful things in competition with each other at one time. That’s why it’s called “balance,” it has to be carefully constructed. It can’t be brought into being by recklessly swinging the nerfhammer like a bull in a China shop.

make swipe be able to hit friendly characters, so mista vistah can backfire same as tess. no reason why you should be able to clear every turn, then bomb the opponents face after the three turns are up.

I’d personally go far more scorched Earth and also hit all of the things knocking at that door too and reset the games overall power levels to that of like, 5 or 6 years ago.

Then in a few years, do it again, or cutting waaaay back on the power creep.

I agree with the Brann, Zillax, and Boomboss need those for a fact. Even paladins need a nerf. I just hope blizzard listens to us people for once. Don’t know why they think making these cards is okay.
