The blade guy (attack neighbors) is really hard to buff. Damage buff in Pirates is so hard. Everything is temporary in battle.
It’s actually quite easy. Get this minion on the board and then all pirates are buffed in the tavern phase. Also there are cheap tavern spells which buff attack power. I always use these to buff “Blade Collector”.
yep, this is the only one. And it shows up on Tier 4 not earlier. Still hard to buff with it though. Can’t get pass 50-70 range.
The Choose One minion gives +5 attack.
+4 attack spell for 1 gold.
Those are the cards I use, but if I just have just him as my only pirate I’m often buffing him with Spells with Naga or Blood Gems.
Pirates are doing just fine in this meta. They have one of the best early 6 drops in the game ATM.
I just a really good time using these minions to make that particular pirate fairly dangerous rather quickly. After obtaining that Cleaving Pirate, I dropped my other pirates for just Peggy Sturdybone:

The reason i abandoned pirates other than those two was because my Hero was the one the has a quest at start of the game, and both quests yielded the same prize, lol. I could Either cast 18 spells, or spend 65 gold. either way I got Sea Witch Zar’jira:

I just gathered every naga/coin maker/taunt giver (the one that gives 2x [+1/+1 +Taunt] spells, and some of the t1 quillboars that yield 2 gems when sold. I had my t7 by turn 5 lol. Thats about the time I dropped the other pirates I mentioned earlier.
Now I shifted into specific naga now that I had that lovely t7:
Only ever found 1 of Critter Wrangler (it was prior to unlocking my t7)

But I ran into Thaumaturgist left and right :

I had 3 golden version of that minion lol, each one giving its spellcraft a bonus of i think +55/+55 or maybe it +65/+65? I cant recall exactly. But of course I augented that climb with the help of 2 golden Zesty Shaker :

I never did find another one of the other pirate that kept buffing the cleaver with every spellcraft and extra minion cards I was able to get every turn. SO i traded it out for the Lava Lurker :

Just so I could have a 2nd minion getting perma-buffed from round to round. ended up losing in 3rd to some ungodly big quillboar. But the final stats of that cleave pirate of mine I think was something like 50-ish/50-ish without the spellcrafts at start of turn, and for final combat it was well over 180/180 ish with them.
Lasted til round 13. Good time just messing around with a quest reward lol.
I genuinely hate that they ruined Vol’jinn’s hero power, he was perfect with Naga being able to make the stats permanent with Naga by swapping the stats of whatever you stacked the spellcrafts on. I genuinely cant even grasp what his power is any good for anymore now that his power is now just as temporary as spellcrafts are. But this hero with the quests, gotta admit I had a good time with my only prize to pick from lol.
Pirates are fairly strong f you ask me . Actually The Hoggar hero is always the pick if I see him .
