How out of touch are the playtesters?

So, A.F. Kay was nerfed prematurely because apparently giving +3/+3 was too overpowered.

Can anyone seriously agree with that? I believe the card could drop the “that didn’t attack” text and it would still be unplayable as a +2/+2 buff across the board. What’s the idea here? Demon Hunter’s tokens all have Charge, so to get the mere +2/+2 buff, you need to miss out on the damage, with the potential that every single minion you didn’t attack with won’t survive another turn to attack. Isn’t that worth a +3/+3 buff from a 5-cost Legendary minion?

It’s a shame because it’s one of the first cards given on the Reward Track and yet sees no play.

Well, they did with this one.

There is a Rarran video about it.
“Why The WORST Legendary Was Nerfed”

In fairness most of the games he played in that video he won without AFK. The one he did the opponent wasn’t playing to the board.

Sure but it is kinda easy to see 3/3 afk just winning the game on the spot by making everything impossible to remove.
Someone not needs to be briliant to see that one(hence why even they did nerf).

Play testers?? Homie, you are a HS play tester! They can’t even afford a competent design and balance team.

How is that any different than the multitude of other decks that are playing cards and winning on the spot from hand currently? At least with AFK it’s on the board and you have a turn to respond to it.

Perhaps play testers have to see if things work, not make opinions on game direction (if that makes sense). So if the combo is broken, but working… it’s been tested.

I assume you (we, us) would like them to test for fairness instead.

I’m only guessing.

You must not be playing if you think it giving +3/+3 would be too strong.

It probably isn’t.

It is Just that nowadays devs try to predict the “feelsbad” cards instead of design a good game.

It really isn’t dificult to presume what are those cards if people play attention enough.

They usually:

  1. Have Very unique texts.
  2. Play into the playerbase personal pet peeves as making boards more resilient or giving infinite value.

It’s clearly because of paladins. Handbuffs and divine shields should complement AFK very well.

Imagine a handbuffed AFK and then the pally dumps some other handbuffed minions (and the 1/1 taunt, handbuffed, to protect AFK)

Heck even just slightly handbuffed AFK followed by muster for battle or the other recruit spell.

Or maybe earthen pally with AFK. Yeah earthen still exist but people seem to have forgotten them.

I suspect paladins are just messing with other new cards for now and will eventually visit AFK.
