How many in the pool in BG

I was told that there are 6 of each t6, 9 of each t5 etc in the pool at any given time and that golden accounts for three.

Now, this is tutorial. But I would think the pool works the same way in tutorial as actual game other than the few pre-scripted turns. Because why won’t it be?
As you can see, I got 2 golden zaps and 2 zaps. And for reference, no, they weren’t from the final discover spree.

Relevantly, it appears someone else have had 8 in a real game before:
(see thread 17585, can’t post link)
So is it possible that the actual pool size is 8? Note that obviously there is no shifter, as theorized in that thread, involved in my case.

The best way to properly test this, I guess, would be two friends getting top 2 slots (like they did in that one post), sell everything, go for golden kedgar, and then start buying t6 and token minions for discovery. Each person, through some effort, would be able to accumulate 6-8 golden in relative quick order.
It would help answer the following questions:

  1. How many is really in the pool? (they should prioritize one of the t6 above all else throughout this entire process)
  2. Would discover ever give you minions that are depleted? (assuming the answer to 1 is correct, does any minion whose limit is reached ever gets offered?)
  3. If the answer to 2 is no, what happens to the game if there are two or less t6 left in the pool on a discovery.

I wonder if there is a way to host a private match between a bunch of ppl w/o Blizz’s help. If there is ever a fireside tavern brawl event or whatever where we can have all 8 ppl in on it… Or some streamer could try running 2s and see if they can get a 3rd through the audience somehow.

It’s definitely 6. If you get alot of triples and keep discovering. Once you have 6 of all T6 minions you can’t discover any. It’s been tried and tested. The exception is to zerus which is not part of the pool or rafaam stealing is not part of the pool.

You won’t happen to have a link to a video of this would you? I’ve tried and unable to find any. Granted, I’m not sure what is the proper search term, I just went with exhausting the pool.

Interesting, so it is proven that there is a finite pool and after it is exhausted, no more can be discovered. i would like to have them stay another 3 rounds and roll(33 rolls total) and see if any show up “naturally” to be certain that exhaustion also stops that, but given that some minions will likely be on board to exhaust the pool via discover, this might be difficult to do.

Yet in the earlier part, it is disproved that the pool is necessarily 6, though that could be due to shifter or rafaam. The only way to be certain is probably actually 8 people who are all in on it and all avoid going for those and then exhaust the pool together…

All we know for certain, therefore, is that there is a pool and that it can be exhausted, at least for discovery. That answers my question 2&3, but not 1, ironically.

The discover pool should match the roll pool since you can only discover what is in the pool and roll what it is. So the 6 for T6 is definitely true, pool wise. But minion can be obtain through other means like rafaam stealing and zerus. I am not fully sure primafin lookout pool is part of the pool or not. But ya just take it that the 6 is 99.99% confirmed, rolling and discovery wise.

Rafaam steals minions from the pool. I remember I got offered 3 of the same minions. I froze the board. Then next turn, there were only 2 of them available to me. I assumed Rafam stole one during combat phase which didn’t leave enough in the pool for me to buy 3.

I pretty sure they don’t. I have seen vid where there is all 6 T6 minion taken up and rafaam steal it and it still works.

Rafaam adds minions to the pool with his hero power. Confirmed by dev.

what does add means here? If i steal and sell it the pool have 1 extra?

short version, yes!

when rafam steals a minion he generates a new copy, if he sells that copy it gets added to the pool
