How Khadgar work exactly ? (all conditions and details)

Hi there, I’m currently playing Mage and use the new Khadgar legendary that give you a weapons that can cast “useful” spells.

I kinda understand how it work BUT I really want to know the different conditions that make a spell selected and put in the pool before the random number choose one of them to throw.

(For exemple, my opponent have a board full of 10/10, in what case a fire ball going face is a possible “useful” spell ? ← sad and true story lol, i mean even a Frostbolt in one of them would have been acceptable)

it could be useful if the fireball was lethal damage to the face

The only one I know of is that arcane missiles requires your opponent to have a 1 health minion.

I mean, it is useful… they now have 6 less health. He’s not supposed to be trying to do a perfect thing like Zephrys did.

If it lands on a targeted spell, the target will be random though (prefers enemies).

He’s casting 6 spells for free though. Lower your expectations on how smart those should be. The fact that it’s pretty heavily weighted to use things like blizzard/flamestrike on wide boards compared to other random effects is more than good enough.

If only it was… that could have been a happy story x)

Yes I understand, but knowing how many spells would be in the pool could change if I want to risk Khadgar or not

Thats your mistake right there, there are none.
You can belive the many rationalizations given by the dev team or you can belive your eyes.

There are 10 spells that card can cast each turn, at any given time/board state/situation assume just that.
You will get a random spell out of the pool of 10, thats the sad reality.

Thats why you see Khadgar using Fireballs on an out of range minion on a FULL board, thats why you see him cast mirror image 3x in a row with no reason and thats why you see him use Arcane Intelect when you are OUT of cards…

Dont count on Khadgar for anything specific ever.

EXCEPT for him to always be wrong
