It used to be clear how the game works but now it is not.
There are quest rewards that are very rare and which are not on the patchnote list that blizzard send out. Also some quests are far more common to get then other quests.
Yet nothing about this in the patchnotes. All that is said and asumed is that you randomly get to discover from 3 quests.
But what does “random” mean to blizzard. Random definitely doesnt mean that every outcome has equal and appropiate odds. That much is clear now as the quests are random yet some are far more common then others. So the rng is “weighted” (rigged might some say) towards certain outcomes and away from other outcomes.
But what are those odds exactly?
With nat paggle we at least knew it was stated to be 50% (and the playerbase actually discovered that this was bugged which blizzard did end up admitting and fixing).
But in BG we dont know the odds for each individual quest, why can we not know these odds why they have to be secret?
Another thing that came to my mind while considering all this: Blizzard has the opinion that customers should not care about the gameplay and the game itself. They should only care about the experience. And that is why they dont tell us how the game exactly works.
The phylosophy is that all that players have to care for is the experience, and not so much how the game itself works. This is a phylosophy i can understand but it is also one that i do not like at all.
To make the best decission with every hero i have to know all these odds, now that we can conclude that they definitely are not equally distributed. By not explaining how this works blizzard takes away a competitive element of BG.
How can you make a correct decission like picking a hero if you dont have all the relevant info?
I would like to know the odds to get a certain quest reward for all of the heros and for every single quest.

Unfortunatly reddit seems to be more about screenshots of highrolls then discussion of the game itself.

Ty for support!.
Bg never used to be like this. Is was a quiet competitive game that was more about the gameplay mechanics itself then about the “experience”.
Standard is a clown fiesta and all about the “experience” so i can understand them beeing secret about mechanics in standard. But bg has always been different, more about the gameplay itself. And for a game to be about the gameplay itself i think full transparency about the workings of the game is important.
So i kinda fear that blizzard is going into the same direction as standard with BG. This update made a step in that direction already, with more powerfull highrolls and a much higher variance in results then before. The lobbys seem to be quiet a bit faster.
I do like the update and the explosiveness of the gameplay but i do think they should not take this a step further with the next expansion and go down the powercreep route.
And this secrecy about the mechanics ,the emphasisis on the experience over the gameplay itself , makes me worried that that is exactly the route they will go.
BG gameplay is strong enough in itself, its awesome. It does not need the “experience” that standard needs because the gameplay itself is horrible.
It was the gameplay that made BG a huge succes. Now blizzard thinks they have struck gold and they want to monetize it to the max. They want the game to grow a lot bigger.
So they go the “experience” route to atrackt players who previously didnt play bg because they didnt really care for the gameplay mechanics itself. They want to tap into this potential by making it a game for the masses.
I am not sure considerations like this play a role in blizzards decission making but i would not be surprised if this was the phylosophy behind the direction in wich the game is going.
I dont think this will be succesfull but it could be. I hope it wont be because its not a direction i like to see.
And pls dont misunderstand me,the current update is pretty awesome. But i also feel they should not take another step in this direction.
More explosiveness, more randomness, more blowouts out of nowhere, less “skill” , more games where you can resign on t4 because its already over.
All because it creates an adictive experience. I dont want to see that in BG because then i will have to find a new game:(
So ya,these are my ramblings.
