Simple question. How do you get lucky in the game? Yes I’m tilted right now, yes I take breaks. But no matter what I do, as soon as I win 2 games, I’ll lose 2. It almost literally doesn’t matter what I do. So how do you get lucky? Is it just like flipping a coin, over time eventually it will land on heads 55% of the time rather than 50%? How many games does it take? Trying to get legend from D5 btw I get to D4 but then soon as that happens it’s right back to D5. Just wondering what I have to do to not get absolutely reamed as soon as I win a couple matches.
Just try to enjoy the times you get unlucky, laugh at it, instead of getting tilted and making a post about how Blizzard is out to get you.
I didn’t make a post about blizz out to get me and I do laugh sometimes about it but I don’t know why it’s so ridiculous to rank up now everything hard counters me as soon as I win so I’m asking what do I have to do to get enough wins to get legend. Doesn’t help that most of my matches this morning have had me concede with opponents at 1-3 hp because they get super lucky and I get nothing. And yes I’m aware of how to play, how to play my deck, counters, tech, etc etc.
Just keep trying. Eventually things will end up working out. You probably shouldn’t listen to me, since I’m just in gold, so I can’t really offer advice.
Nah I don’t think rank has anything to do with skill, I am normally a gold player too I just really wanted legend this month for the card back
Your first step is to not be me, which - congratulations - you’ve already accomplished!! This will save you from the worst possible luck.
There’s a reason I always say that I’m the guy who can roll a 6-sided die and hit a zero lol.
Honestly, sometimes it helps just to vent a bit about absolutely craptastic luck and know that there are, in fact, others out there who not only understand your frustration, but got just as pissed at some point recently for experiencing the same thing.
Just keep trying! I know getting out of silver was a constant stream of taking one step forward, one step back, but eventually I managed a good enough streak to get to gold. Anyway, you can always try next month, which will be easier probably then getting to legend in a day.
I’ve been trying for a few days lol…thanks tho.
@Wardrum eh if you are number 1 bad luck, I must be number 2. I’ve had to take so many breaks to cool down from tilt, it’s ridiculous. And I’m actually a very level headed individual, which is saying something. The thing that gets me the most is, the classic “animal companion” dilemma (always huffer against me, always leokk for me). If I were to use these decks my opponents are using, it usually wouldn’t work out nearly so well as when they go against my decks. So I’m just really wondering what one has to do to get lucky enough to get legend, since I’m using T1 decks and know how to play them.
How far did you make it above gold?
Whatever the answer, the good news is that simlly progressing each month makes it easier to hit that point and push further forward. I have my criticisms of the new ladder system, but this facet is one that I approve of.
Same, but you should see me when I go on full tilt lol. I’ve had some pretty salty rants on the Discord from time to time. For me, just stopping playing doesn’t always help. I need to engage my brain in something else for a time, like when I’m at work and there’s nothing going on (which is when most of my playing gets done) I make another unneeded round around the plant and site, checking on various pieces of machinery/equipment. The jumling of mental tracks is a good method of reintroducing perspective and returning oneself to a state of non-tiltedness.
Well I’ve been playing every expansion since beta, for six years. I have 100+ 12 win arena runs, and have seen basically every meta deck come and go. I have no problem with my skill/knowledge, just my luck/variance. Normally I hover around the middle ranks, because I simply don’t usually care about rank and usually don’t play many games, and usually don’t care at all about legend. But since I went on a huge winstreak to get to diamond 10, and now diamond 5, past couple days I’ve really wanted to get legend for first time to get the cardback. But no matter what I do, I get screwed. I guess it should be noted I’m playing Wild. Maybe Standard is easier?
Depends, both have their challenges.
And another loss getting warlock to 1 health as they topdeck reno after kazakus for armor and etc etc…it’s just so stupid and annoying ugh. All the while greeting and wowing like they are good or cool or skilled or anything. Yes I’m tilted. No need to tell me. In 20 games today I’ve had 8 (9 now) finish with me conceding after getting opponent to 1-3 health. How do you not go crazy from that.
I’mma do it
You see, that’s the secret. We’Re AlL qUiTe MaD ArOuNd HeRe!
Really though, the way Hearthstone goes these days (double so in Wild) swing turns can happen at any point. Zephrys being one of the primary examples of pulling a win or answer out of your butt, even in Standard. If you really want to push Legend above all else, grab something aggressive like Highlander Hunter in Standard and smash your way to it.
Personally, I don’t enjoy grinding just for the sake of rank, so my performance when doing so drops off noticeably and quickly because I wind up tilting more easily because I’m not adequately enjoying the deck that I’m playing. You may be different, though.
Yeah, normally I don’t care either. Soon as I get the cardback, it’s back to playing fun decks of my own and staying in middle ranks like normal. Just gonna try and brute force my way through with the dumb odd demon hunter.
Hopefully you get that card back so that you can go back to playing decks you really like. Lord knows playing ladder would be much more difficult if I didn’t enjoy the crazy stuff Rogue can do.
To stay on topic, there are, in my opinion, a few ways to improve your “luck”.
-
better mulligans: when I see people posting replays, that’s probably the top area where I can see improvements can be made. Know which cards are really good to keep (examining HSreplay stats can really help your here). Know what you can get away with, or what key card you need in the different matchups.
Don’t settle for mediocre hands, especially I see a lot of people keeping cards that will allow to make comebacks, when you want to go for the winning hands and, failing that, draw into the comeback mechanics. -
master the “Clock”. Know when you have a window to put pressure, and do it. A longer game = more draws for your enemy to pull something out of nowhere.
That requires again a good knowledge of your opponent’s deck (to know how soon he may pull a comeback), and a good experience with your own deck (to know how much gas you have).
Is Rogue the one I should be playing? I’m in wild, btw. I actually see like zero rogues tbh…
@Clockwise thank you yes I am actually very good with mulligan, knowledge, reach, adaptability, etc, been playing since beta, every expansion. I just need to get luckier somehow, or play a more broken deck.
Nah, I’d say Odd Demon hunter or something else insane in wild is your best bet. I can’t advise you on wild, since I’ve only played like, 2 games in it, as Zayle decks.
Ah okay…yeah I’m just trying to brute force to legend with odd DH right now
Hey, at least you get the joy of playing Baku, the best moon eating snake thing in Hearthstone.
