How come it’s only well played when you win?

Did I only win when I cheated you with some dirty algorithm like people were using with SN1P-SN4P Warlock?

Did you accidentally disconnect every time I beat you?

Or are you just a disingenuous prick? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I agree, that’s why I think it’s hypocritical to use the well played emote after a win.

Most people use well played when they win but not when they lose. That triggers me.

Just shut the hell up.

Well you see, “Well Played” actually means “Well Played, but I Played Better”.

Whether that’s actually true is irrelevant. The real importance is the final outcome of the game, and it’s obvious that winning or losing in this game has no external factor like randomly generated win conditions or lucky topdecks that could potentially have significant weight in the end.

Deep inside we are all pricks when it comes to winning and losing in this game; we just use the shell of the internet and device screen to hide it.

I agree that you should say well played as soon as you know the game is over, win or loose.

however, since HS doesn’t allow any action on opponent turn, the person about to win likely knows the game is over before you do.

otherwise, the person is simply answering your “well played” which you totally offered as soon as you passed the turn into your opponent’s board presenting lethal.

Win or lose I always say well played. I see it as the equivalent of a handshake in a physical card game.

Then you are among very few people.

I have personally on multiple occasions played against the same opponent who only said well played when winning.

I’ve been saying Well Played once I know the game is lost (and “Hello” when the match starts). Emoting like that seems to help with focus, because it keeps matches from running all together, somehow. Don’t really do it when I’m winning unless the opponent says it first though.

I say well played as soon as I know the game is over, whether I am winning or the opponent is winning. I do it while streaming and haven’t had anyone say I was being rude. I view it as just a way to say “good game”.

You cant always tell what the other player has drawn, perhaps they started with a reduced chance that rolled over at some point during the match, making them believe they’d lost and then it alters. I’d translate “well played” as also “that was close” or “good effort”, more that that a game where both players are on single digit health and decided by and rng draw, also well played, both stuck with it, same goes for trash decks where u see they have no chance, well played because they didn’t quit.

I only well played when someone is emote spamming me and I beat them anyway.

Well… some of these emote voice lines kinda sounds a bit sarcastic so I thought its intention to use them that way.

Atleast I am using these that way…

I say well played when I win, and I reply well played when I lose. If the winner says nothing I don’t emote.

I also say “wow” when rng fizzles no matter who it happens to, lol.

If someone greets me I reply in kind. I don’t use any of the other emotes.

I usually say ‘Well played’ when there was a game that wasn’t one-sided. No matter if I’m going to win or loose.

Come to think of it, when I know I’m going to loose next round, I usually emote the ‘Well played’ and let my opponent finish me off on his turn.

If they then start BM’ing me, there is always the concede button

I always emote “Well Played!” when I win because it’s my opponent’s honor to be match against a veteran like me: somebody who played since beta and got countless legend runs.

So in a sense, my opponent, even with the loss, was better than everybody who didn’t matched with me.

Well played is the only way to say ‘good game’, and gg is Much more appropriate.
Shaman’s concede in ‘You win this one, friend’ is the right mannerism.

You might as well have described the person who proclaims that sex was great when their partner thought it was lackluster.

Benom, I am not replying to you.

I say “well played” when the opponent isn’t playing a degenerate deck.
My “last match” before legend was against an highlander warlock with treachery and the 8/8. I lost, but it was a close match: he deserved the well played for not playing quest mage :joy:

I squelch everyone…

That’s because I tend to afk when it’s not my turn and miss the window.

Usually emote well played back or when I win. I even pause a second for a response, but I don’t take it personally if none is coming. Sometimes I’ll emote well played if it is clear my doom is imminent but I want to let the person have the turn (playing a deck I haven’t seen or they’re doing a quest). Othertimes I just emote well played and concede.

It really depends on the character. Some emotes on some characters I don’t like. Nemsy has a great oops and wow for weird/impressive RNG. I also like her hi.

Lady Vash’s oops (“curses”) is more appropriate for bad RNG, and her wow (“stunning”) for good RNG (tho can also be sarcastic for opponents bad RnG).
