the only thing I see there that can win games is mask.
I think the entire deck is a joke.
Sadly its probably the only thing mage has this expansion.
Everything else is too weak.
Flooding the board with Water Elementals and clearing your opponent’s board with Flamestrike wins games.
Mask is for the match-ups against non-board based decks.
I think you should probably only conclude that the deck is a joke after experimenting with it for several days in your bracket, trying different variations and trying to counter the popular decks that you are running into honestly.
Seems like the answer to make the Mage hero better would be to make it target enemies if possible for its battlecry. Rune of the Archmage works like that doesn’t it? I never had it cast anything on myself so I am assuming.
Like I said, it would literally have no impact. The best mage spells already favour enemies or it doesn’t matter.
i can’t make it work. i would love to have someone show me what it is I’m supposed to be doing with the deck because I see no clear win condition.
i know players get tired of me saying its bad but I cannot see the deck strategy. Just win by dumb luck maybe.

Still it has to go down to at the very least 5mana to be even worth considering in any deck that is not exactly big spell mage. It´s just a dumbsterfire of a card right now.
Okay? I get that. It would just allow different types of decks to work if it worked like I said. It isn’t the greatest so I don’t see it hurting anything.
pretty much, it´s really all about the Rune not milling you into fatigue.
Honestly if you’re getting brain freezes and ignites off of Dawngrasp, that’s… awful. Even if it is favouring enemies.
I think it should just pick the most expensive spell from each school, if they want to do it that way. But it’d make the card really strong.
it´s a hero card for 8 mana, it´s supposed to be really strong, that´s the whole point.
It’s the same thing Team 5 always does, and apparently I’m the only one on forums who sees it.
They gave mage Spell mage and everyone complained incessantly, then they spent the entire expansion nerfing it to unplayable.
This expansion they have given the class a bunch of joke cards, that, when they win will cause every single forum member to whine and moan about
RNG and unfun, even though the deck is unreliable garbage, just like they did with puzzle box mage.
The pattern never changes.
They won’t give mage anything to speak of in the miniset, and then next full expansion, they will give mage another brand new set of cards that will carry it to tier 2, and then the nerf train will start all over.
It has been this way for four years now.

An 8 mana card that casts approximately 20 mana in value guaranteed is probably too strong.
I’m probably just going to play in Wild for the entire expansion. Maybe ill play Hunter though.
just faced one of them with a very unrefined deathrattle rogue prototype…had to cast 3 runes of the archmages to then win of the deck of lunacy it did cast.
and he was smug about it. But yea, that is the skillfull play that makes the cards great we´re talking about.

We have a 9 mana card that does that already, without investment, and it’s pretty bad. For a hero card, i’d say it’d make it about average.
I think the card stinks. 20 mana worth of garbage is still garbage. We have no big spells other than Mask of Cthun that actually do anything.
yea, it´s really just sad.
doesn´t need to be overly creative, just put 4 reasonably big elementals on the board or sth for 10mana would have been solid, instead they give us a useless tower.
and what really cheeses me off is that the card cuts wildfire mage’s throat with the stupid way the HP resolves.
They took the one Standard deck that I actually enjoyed playing, for at least the past three years, and kicked it squarely in the groin. Wildfire mage is dead. It cannot compete with the uber decks that other classes got and running this card cripples it.
just look at xyrella for the same 8 mana, the potential is infinite and even if she´s only healing for 8 and granting 8 armor she´s doing more than the mage does in most cases. With a much better hero power.
