Hit the monthly legend grind again

I had everyone told me that wild was a baby mode and didn’t matter, and that wild legend 100 was easier than standard gold, and legend was the real challenge after already doing it 7-8 times.

So i played legend to get another dust pack.
And immediately got #598 of top 1k legend rn
https://imgur.com/KD1TUaw

Haven’t been mmr grinding just the rank i got literally after finishing the grind was top 1k. I’m not a winrate grinder, i’m just a vet from Classic/gvg who’s had enough experience to play anything i want.

And am unhappy with the state of wild questlock killing experimentation to the point i reladdered in standard to top 1k legend running my own refined and tweaked list.

I wanted to do more, but you know… only so many viable overload cards and only so many obvious cards that win you know. Standard only has like 1/10th of the card pool to play with and synergies were obvious.

So since there’s only so many cards that worked in standard, i took a glance through at higher winrates but more expensive decks, and saw two choices. Spend 5k-10k dust on a expensive pally for a 65-70% winrate.

Or spend 300 dust on a then unrefined 55-60% wr quest shaman
The deck started off pretty awful, lots of questionable decisions. it needed nature synergy and had cards that blocked it’s own draws. I don’t usually try to refine standard decks, but this time i just made some choices because i wanted to. I took investment opportunities out, i put more threats.

I watched the gameplay and refined the deck as i played it with my experience taking my own wild homebrews to wild legend. And while some memey ideas like cheesemonger never took off, i pretty much just got to 1k legend on a f2p dust and immediately hit Rank #598 the moment i hit with a almost 88% winrate (23:3 in the mirror).

So when decks were equal, the very mirror itself where all decks are the same and skill the only factor, i won every mirror almost 90% of the time whenever another person played the same deck.

So i hit top 1k standard and think wild questlock is still a problem until i hit 1k legend. Now i am, on a whopping 300 dust as a f2p with my own tweaked list i made half for laddering, half to win. Skill issue right? There were also like 10-20 minor one card variants. I constantly made minor tweaks with cards with feel how.

I’m still sure cards like Torrent, Overdraft, and more or less aoe can all have a place in the list, but here’s the deck if you want to try it out. No guarantees if you do 40-60% with the same lists though. But it seems like in lower level players hand you can still either play as tempo or control. Quest mage and floor mages… are unironically, the worst part of the matchup and plague every 5/10 rank.

But once you get past diamond 2 they tended to disappear thankfully. My tweaked list of Quest shaman removes dead cards like investment opportunities, added in more minions and refill post SOS lock’s demise.

No guarantees if you’ll get the same. At least it’s a deck with lots of tricks that you can find playing it, from powerful openers, discovers, and the ideal or prefered ways to play the mirror. Likely the law of averages say every mirror should tend to be around 50%.

To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone

Ideas to try:
o Want more tempo or overloading a lot? Try swapping out a card for Overdraft.
o Want more aoe? Try more lightning storm or Landslide (Especially with primordial studies)
o Overdraft is a great card. There are lots of great cards that all worked, the deck could just try to generate 1-2.
o I really wanted to try putting cornelius in the deck. Sadly i don’t have him, but imagine he could be fun to try!

Anyways as far as meta goes most everyone i saw up there was pretty much pally, and some lifesteal + anatheron + 1 mana 6/6 taunt handlocks for the most part and the deck goes 50 50 with pally and lock.

Also for the top 50 wild here was the Midrange raza i used to use in wild in Scholomance i had a jam playing. It’s dead now, it played less combo and more tempo and utilized Recruiter + spawn of shadow shenanigans to help attrition or otk, as well as squashing as another flex otk like a multi headed hydra.

I loved the deck but it’s dead to wild questlock and went from a legend deck to dead in a pit overnight with wild questlock. Hate that deck.

(Code removed since deck was intensely fun but dead to questlock. Was my passion pet project deck. )

For the record i’ve also gone 70-78% winrates and also have done legend like… i guess it was 6-7… +1… So… now 7-8 times.

I don’t know if you’d actually benefit from the deck if you already have a pally, but if you want to try the deck. it’s actually pretty close to dirt cheap and feels pretty fun to play. nearly all cards except the quest are commons and rares you can open up in packs.

I think pally might have a significantly higher winrate and more legend representation, but it’s a pretty good deck and pretty cheap right now minus 1-2 legends. (Fireheart isn’t as important early on, and the deck works without them, but they’re huge for saving for a turn 8-10+ and comboing or using with lightning blooms. ) And a lot of parts are replaceable.

Go nuts. But fair warning, if everyone goes shaman, quest mages might actually start climbing the ladder and face burning everyone. So, Good luck.

Edit: oh god my ques are 5 minutes long now BLIZZ WHY

Nah i day 1 legend with 51 rank… Easiest climb ever with lock/mage… The only matchup i hate is mirror match… Shaman quite irrelevant…

Nice. Yeah, fun fun. My objective was to get the easy standard dust with as little effort as possible and investment, so 300 dust seemed pretty easy. I didn’t even rush it or do any grinding at all, just popped off haha.

Not sure if i need the rank que times though. Might deliberately tank it later. Know what rank you need for legend bonus stars, (if they even exist then?)

Good job, man. I’ve seen some of your other comments and your insistence that Investment Opportunities is a dead card. I found it an interesting hypothesis, so I gave it a try for about 20 games (with double Overdraft, as well). It’s going well, but still testing.

I’ll give this deck a try. I haven’t had good experience with the discover-heavy decks, but maybe it needed some of the fat cut.

Hope you realize top 1000 on day 4 is very average.

There’s so little amount of people in legend at that point that your entering rank seems way more impressive than it really is.

Shocker legend with shaman no one cares…

Shaman has been given most busted cards in last two expansions and their quest is ridiculous not op but definitely borderlands broken.

Did they really need a 6/4 rush with lifesteal?? That overloads one, no of course not.

Top 1k legend first week is easy.

yup, didn’t even grind, was just out of the gate. just gonna cruise and maybe tank it later for daily quests and memeing around. Was about the difficulty getting gold used to be with the new system. Took a single day.

74% final winrate to legend over 150 games from scratch still btw. Still heard a lot of clunkers only got like 55-60%s for theirs, nice. The diamond to legend grind that normally took a day took only like a hour since i was just eating up every mirror. I like knowing my own decks. 88% wr, 25W : 3L in the mirror that should be 50 50 lmao. XD

because there is no grind required, your rank isn’t an indication of high MMR , it’s just that there’s so little amount of players who are Legend that fast because you know… some people have other things to do than to play a ton of games quickly on reset.

For that reason, anyone who hits Legend in the first few days will have a great rank, which will drop at the light of speed if that player doesn’t have high legend MMR, which isn’t your case unfortunately, otherwise you would’ve placed much higher.

To put things into perspective, J Alexander who’s a high Legend level player entered at rank 54 when he got to Legend 2 days ago.

I gotta admit this is slightly true, as this is goin’ on my 3rd month of not going bother tryin’ for legend cause legend is just free pack/dust… I will say tho , using less well know deck to such refine deck could be seen as a feat it’s self tho, not relyin on top tier decks could be seen as a feat. So I wouldn’t say dismiss them right away but also be willing to say at least it wasn’t quest handlock they did for the “easy” wins.

What the hell do you mean ? This is factual, not ‘‘slightly true’’

Also quest shaman (which is what OP used) is literally a tier 1 deck.

These ques are awful why would anyone want them XD. It takes like 1-5 minutes to find a match while it used to just throw you in there.

Honestly it’s just a pointless game flex chasing a number honestly. Unless you’re going to be a e sport streamer i really think having 30 sec to 280+ second long que times is a bit overrated honestly.

Anyone else hit legend and know the numbers yet of how many players are in it? I’ve heard 20-30k a month, but i suppose it makes sense with the new 5 wins a week most would wait. I considered the same.

I wouldn’t say Quest Shamen is T1 - Element/Agro Shamen is def better then quest shamen in my opinion, Heck Agro Druid is consider a T1 deck, but it has it faults where I wouldn’t say it’s T1 , if anything just a hard solid T2 deck. You can correct me if I’m wrong but most sources like HS Replay, VS and some other sites are labeling it as a T2 deck, as of this moment went I look at stuff.

And I do feel Element Agro Shamen is way stronger then Quest Shamen in most matchups.

Like the sites also say Quest Shamen Beat Agro Druid, but when I’ve play vs Quest Shamen, I win, on my deck tracker I have 9 matches vs quest shamen, out of those 9 games I only lost 3, so 3⁄1 games, which is positive win rate which is a 75% win rate vs what the sites saying Agro Druid is barely in the 40’s, could be lack of data or people not playing the deck right, but that is personally why I’m not saying Quest Shamen is a T1.

I hope you can see where I’m coming from and my view. And yes I still say it’s slightly true mainly for the factor of, we don’t know when they play, if it was night or day, and depending on how active the server were and who their major opponent was, they said questlock which could be a lucky break to just run into so many of the same decks as I had games where I vs tons of Quest Mage, and other times never see them.

Your opinion is irrelevant.

What’s relevant is data from reliable sources.

then reliable sources say it’s a T2 deck.

Just stop already.

This is nonsense, it’s literally listed as tier 1 in the latest VS. report.

Quest Shaman’s dominant matchup spread might even be more impressive than Handlock’s. The only reason it isn’t at the top of Tier 1 is the high presence of Warlock. If Warlock gets nerfed again, Quest Shaman may have to be touched as well because it would be near-unbeatable. Its matchup against any deck that develops a board is ridiculous. Only Quest Mage hard counters it, because it does the exact opposite (and interestingly, Quest Hunter). One of the strongest anti-aggro decks we’ve seen.

It’s T2 on Hsreplay That more up to date then VS report that takes week to be posted. Go look

https://twitter.com/HSReplayNet/status/1433457380230983681/photo/1

I feel like you have no idea how to interpret the data.

You said above sites like VS labels it as a tier 2 deck, which is false. As of right now I’m trying to look at the data from hsreplay but the site is down.

Nothing changed except warlock got weaker due to the nerfs and VS specifically said IF Warlock gets nerfed, quest shaman will be even stronger.

Just admit that you are wrong, Quest Shaman is a tier 1 deck.

You rreally don’t know who to follow information on? You can follow their twitter where they give current thoughts on stuff.

Funny site work fine for me. Even gave twitter, Your using Aug 26 data vs current twitter post and them talking on twitter about their thoughts after the podcast.

I think it’s you who doesn’t know how to see data.

Dude You follow their twitter? You see the twitter post of evne HSreplay showing region , Quest Shamen isn’t on the top of all of them, it’s handbuff.

Maybe it’s you who is in denial? I literally gave you more updated data and your saying HSreplay Diamond-Legend is wrong? FROM THERE OWN TWITTER, ok bud.

I was looking at HSR just before it crashed, and can confirm that at d4-1, legend and high legend in the last 24hrs it has dropped to mid t2.

Data reaper live tracker also shows a drop in win rate compared to their latest report, not even a top 5 deck in d4-1 or legend brackets.
