Hearthstone wishlist 2020 edition

Have you coded before? Have you coded on somebody else’s old program?

It’s super hard. Just go over to the Starcraft 2 forums and ask around how many people actually coded any games there, and how hard it is to get anything right.

I did basic programming on college. I once had a lab where I was told to program a diagnostic test. The TA took points off because I realized there were more possible faults the circuit board could have and coded tests for those other faults.

Not really. I only did work in Heroes of Might and Magic 3.5 WoG with something called ERA/ERM or so for customization. But that probably doesn’t say anything to you.

But look at my post again. Sure something like that for even more customization would be even better but that’s not what I thought of.

Maybe they would need to come up with some new UI designs but in theory it should be relatively simple to give people the option to adjust such basic game rules. Just take a look at that: https://outof.cards/forums/hearthstone/hearthstone-general/2665-tables-a-way-to-play-hearthstone-with-your-own-rules

And I have been trying to tell you that you haven’t seen the HS code to know how easy it is to make it easy to manipulate for laypersons. The Warcraft/Starcraft Map Editors are the best indicator for Blizzard’s coding philosophy and they’re not easy to code custom things in them (I tried).

We do know there is a new constructed game mode due later this year.

Warcraft 3 once had a mode called Defense of the Ancients that became its own game. If a bunch of programmers who play Hearthstone cooperated, we could make one good custom mode, at least.

You missed my point completely.

First and foremost. DOTA wasn’t a mode of WC3, it is its own game; one of hundreds of player created games in the WC3 arcade.

WC2, WC3, SC, and SC2 were all created from the start having the map editor, which presumably Blizzard themselves would have been using to create the campaigns and official PvE maps.

Creating tool of similar complexity for a 6 year old game on a bunch of old code would be a monumental rather than a walk in park…

And making it work for mobile another nightmare.
