do you think it’s worth adding a two-on-two mode?
In my opinion, it will be quite a fan and interesting mode. You can come up with so much, for example, two aggressive decks or two control paladins. I imagine it as a separate type of rating, as a classic or free. What do you think about this?
They can’t even offer 2 vs AI for Tavern Brawls really, so expecting 2v2 is unrealistic.
We had a brawl before that you had to team up against a boss, it was a disaster lol but also tons of fun.
I’d think some people would just make bots that AFK to ruin the game mode.
I always figured that 2v2 would be near top priority for new modes. A fair bit of my MTG memories involved >2 players, albeit in a FFA format.
Hearthstone isn’t really designed for more than three players, and I don’t see how to change that.
That said, I’d love to see a turn based CCG that used asymmetrical team play. So like if Among Us and Duelyst had a baby.
I think 2v2 and FFA would stretch the population too much, but they should have implemented it a long time ago when the population was prime for having all kinds of different modes. They could have easily implemented these modes rather than battlegrounds, they also could have easily made a shifting wild mode instead of duels. Now they’d just directly compete with each other, though it looks like duels wasn’t intended as a shifting wild mode because 90% of the cards you use come from standard sets.
I agree that duelyst style games are interesting to explore, I’ve played several like this but they always seem to die. Warhammer is probably the closest thing to this that exists now.
Yeah. I dig them, but I am not an audience unto myself. Maybe they’re just not viable.
It plays well in the YGO manga/anime and is even in a couple of the games. With some work (and taking some pointers from YGO) i could see it being a thing in Hearthstone.
Now if they’d actually do it right or not is a whole other story.
They aren’t smart enough to do that.
Heard Mercs was supposed to be 2vs2 originally, not sure though either way mercs sucks.
Maybe if they stop trying to save Mercs and put some thought into 2vs2 shouldn’t be hard for said game designers…
what does this mean?
expecting a someone to do thier job is ridiculous
what? i dont understand. you think people going afk " ruins" games?
i am pretty sure the idea has been one of the most toxic mind set that has been prevalent in blizzard for decades. i dont understand how a game with millions of month active users cant survive more then like 3 game modes lol.
There are websites that show hearthstone has about 4mil active users each month yeah sure, but there are also websites that show that about 80% of that is on the Chinese servers. Then you are offering up ranked and non ranked splitting the standard 3 modes into 6, battlegrounds, arena, duels, tavern brawl, some people solely play the campaigns vs ai, some people only play in customs. So while the game does support 10x the population needed to sustain ranked standard, some of the alternative modes just don’t really have much of a player base and they suggested a while back they weren’t interested in server merges anytime soon, it’s not a toxic mindset to assume they cannot add 3 more modes.
I like this idea. It looks good at first blush. However, this would require players to socialize, and Hearthstone isn’t very good at facilitating that. If the mode randomly queued players together, I can see griefing being a big problem.
Do you mean 2 players vs 2 players? Or do you mean 1 player vs 1 player with each player running 2 decks?
