Handbuff Hunter

The handbuff hunter paradox.

Just went to crack open my third spiked clamato for the night and i thought to check out how my stats on my session were. Well… let’s just say… much better than i thunk. After sitting down and seshing i was left with a better legend rank as clearly i climbed the ladder but somehow i was under the impression that i had a bad session, otherwise, bad games, otherwise put as a “lowroll” or more commonly known as: I thought i lost more than i wonned.

Turns out my handbuff hunter games on my stat tracker had a 88% win rate over 40+ games. Then what left me with so much anxiety as i cracked open my clamato? Why did i feel such a dread?

Part 2 of the thread: The Clamato Hunter Dread

It turns out that i am constantly winning with handbuff hunter yet simultaneously (i spelled that right on the first try without auto correct) it is giving me supreme anxiety. At any moment both the IRS and ranger gilly can knock on my door. Any hunter worth their salt more than you could shake a stick at knows that a ranger gilly draw early - or ever - is a lost game. I just have so much anxiety playing this deck as even more than rogue, here, every single card draw matters. It is a weird juxtaposition where most decks/games you’re more worried about what you can place on the board but with this hunter deck all i’m worried about is what i’m holding - as the clever name i’ve given my deck suggests : Hodl Hunter -.

The problem which i’ve narrowed down with the help of my gigabrain is that handbuff hunter has two tricks up its sleeve. If it can even pull off one, let alone both. Two huge taunt minions early or two huge zilliax’s early. I’m talking EARLY. Two 28/28’s on turn 4 early. That is not the bread nor the butter, that is the sandwich. That’s all there is.

Thirty cards. Two minion win condition. Do thyne mathematics.

I genuinely am starting to think that my nailbeds being chewed is not worth the wins with this deck. Otherwise hunter is unplayable. Lose games or lose mind? That is the question. One could argue that queueing into a paladin or a death knight is enough to lose ones mind and to that i say ameen. Anyways to summarize: spiked tomato juice, hunter, paladins every game, huge minions.

Aah, that’s the missing word! Spiked!

Yesterday you also went cuckoo naming 3 clamato’s as a reason, and I was like, what? how? does fructose really impact some people like that? Hahahhahaha, naaah bro

No bad story starts with 3 spiked clamato’s, surely  :money_mouth_face:

and here it comes! Haha this is gonna be insane

I believe you’ve experienced flow!

First described by a Russian guy with unbeliveably impossible surname, who’s still the biggest expert on the subject, flow is a feeling of intense concetration and control over a specific task to the point where your ego dissolutes and you become a literal calculator specialized only for that certain task.

It’s peak-experience humanity. It’s always sad to hear when it happens on a substance. It would be great to experience it completely sober, but oh well, it is what it is.

Anxiety is nothing else than increased cortizol and noradrenaline, which give you subjective feelings of fear, urgency, intense awareness and focus, but also stimulate the production of dopamine, serotonin and a few other, lesser known neurotransmitters which increase your cognitive and other abilities x-fold.

It’s basically superhuman mode.

This one’s gonna be even better I can feel it

Ofc you did, you’re peaking

Looks like you just figured out what you could have just learned on your biology class if you weren’t looking at that girl two benches down and to the left of you - that negative emotions exist to stimulate an organism for action, to escape the negative emotions.

Hence, the one exists because of the other, and on it goes in cyces, one stimulating the other. Negative emotions/sensations stimulate you to improve the situation. Improvement of the situation brings about satisfactions and inactivity. Inactivity leads to negative situation, which leads to negative emotions/sensations, which leads…

and on and on it goes…

Ah. I’m disappointed.

The rest of the post is simply your failed attempt at justifying/explaining the anxiety, which is literally there because you’re too occupied with a task and you’ve forgotten to eat, drink, pee or blink.

Unfortunately, without the negative, there is no positive, so if you want to enjoy the game to the fullest, you will have to suffer the full consequences.
