Why would you play that paired to riot new game.

Translation:

I’m bad at hearthstone and losing makes me salty. I’m also too poor to buy the cards. Unfortunately I’m addicted.

Try Legends of Runeterra. It was way more fun for me than Gwent. Though it could be horrible for you. We all have different tastes in the end.

Its has a lot of decks that actually needs a knowledge and planning to actually work. Sure it has pretty straightforward decks too.

What made HS unfun for me is that sheer amount of straightforward decks (someone call them braindead for a reason) and its overall unmatched power.

I am not saying LoR is better because its different game. Same as Gwent is different game.

HS is still number 1 for me when I do not have a lot of time or when I want to play some simple game that doesnt require much thought at all. Perfect one for fast relax or to pass a time while you have still a time at lunch break, waiting for a bus etc.

LoR is for me a game I can tinker with, try some modified meta decks, some new crap that rarely works but seems interesting etc.

In the end the most important thing is what game is able to entertain you. Because lets face it - thats the sole purpose of games in general.

I tried Gwent. Played a few games but couldn’t figure out what the appeal was supposed to be. I had no fun. shrug

I love the lore, the cards, but they struggled to get the game to work in a fun way between two real people.

The campaign is super fun, but there are some super huge power plays that make playing against a real person frustrating.

Didn’t know Gwent still existed. Are they still trying. That’s cute!

Both Gwent and Runeterrible are boring.

Gwent can be difficult for most people to get into. It for one is a lot harder to learn than hearthstone, it feels like it has poker elements in it, you are choosing what to combo, what to keep, what to throw. If you don’t know the combos then you don’t know when your opponent is going to push out 50 points suddenly.

Have you played hearthstone? You can go from win to loss with one coin toss.

I’ve played gwent when it was in beta, before the main gameplay rehaul and I’ve played this game since beta.

To summarize, gwent lets you have enough targeted draw, tutoring, and mulligan draw in CERTAIN decks that you can be certain to see every card in your deck over the 3 rounds.

This increase in consistency can make games feel terribly polarized.

They nerfed the tutor/thinning cards in gwent quite a bit since beta, the thing about gwent is that it requires a lot more skill to play and you can even win most match-ups when you’re playing the less favourable deck. I haven’t played nearly as much gwent as I’ve played hearthstone, but I did get to about rank 10,000 globally and I never felt that it had polarized match-ups, though the decks are probably less balanced than hearthstone, a tier 4 deck might only be realistically hitting 50 points in a round, whereas some tier 1 decks if played well and you get lucky could push out 200 points in a round.

It’s always funny seeing people getting more salty than the OP.

Just look at some of these same sycophants replying to every thread of this kind, every day.

Imagine people brown nosing hard for this game when we can see where the company and its devs are taking this game to - the flaming dumpster - and if you can’t see it, you are already blinded by fanboyism.

All card games are boring, but HS is at a different level, not in a good way though.

Not really sure how you’d be bad at hs considering skill is about 10% of your win rate.

Most of the games that require more skill don’t let you directly attack the player unless there are no minions on board.

But the heroes have no life totals in gwent, the units are worth points and they are killable. You can pass or try to bait out their combo, but then the math to consider that baiting out their combo might leave them with an extra card, then even in some instances factoring whether or not you want to go for a short round or a long round, these are not the same kinds of complications you have in hearthstone.

I don’t think the ability to declare blocks is what really stands it apart from magic, I mean declaring blockers is if not the most simple aspect of magic, however what is not simple is adding instant spells, adding multiple phases, so you have to decide if you want to hold back mana during your opponents turn. Also the complexity of the keywords and the general deck design.
