Offering the starship legendary as first card in arena, then not providing a single starship afterwards for 87 (3x 29) choices.
Not sure, if you’re actively trolling or just demonstrating once again your sheer incompetence in ever designing a correct thing (or at least make it bug free)

That’s just absolutely lame indeed. They should make a new format entirely that is half-draft. You only draft half of the deck or so and the rest is either packages of synergy that you can select or just constructed by you.

would make it way more appealing than what it is now. class imbalance is insane (you either get good choices or not) and card choices can go the same way. Something like you suggested would allow for somewhat more consistency and keep the free float

At some point I realized how lame that format is, that I figured “just get whatever Discovers and Generates and generally Produces other cards”.
Turns out it’s not that stupid: it’s better than nothing: at least you may get something good and you always have something to play.
Still only 2 wins, but it’s not like I’m good even if the deck is good.

arena is completely random, I don’t get why you talk about design when everything works as intended
You’re never guaranteed to hit synergies
I’m not defending it, I hate arena, but that’s what you signed for
Besides, you have not specified which class you were playing, which matters quite a lot

Weird it not like we had something like that before and they killed it.

Duels was the game mode where you had have your deck at start and as ya played ya got relics and ya get to draft packages that work with your deck.

I agree. They should let you pick special heroes with custom treasures and hero powers as well as these draft buckets. That would be pretty awesome.
I’d give it a special name. Like Duels mode or something like that.

Personally I don’t want arena gone. I just want something between the extremity of netdecking in constructed and 100% randomized drafting in arena.
PS Not sure Duels is exactly what I’d want since that was closer to the drafting side and I’d prefer packages with more robust synergies being on offer.

Duels were still heavily towards the drafting side. I envision something more in the middle. Close to being able to just construct anything with part of the deck or at least just getting a big complete synergistic package on one go.

Duels buckets used to be based on synergies, and that’s when duels was most fun to play imo. It allowed for some pretty consistent drafting and the development of a meta though. Also they probably had to spend considerable time tweaking buckets and making new ones for new expansions, which is probably why they changed buckets to be solely based on expansions (at which point Duels became significantly worse) and why they eventually decided to give up on the mode.

I’m sure, the only reason they stopped, is they didn’t find it profitable enough.

When they made that expansion switch that mode became hot garbage. I used to enjoy it before that and couldn’t stand it after the switch.

The only reasonable way to start drafting is to assume the cards you pick may not be part of any synergy, and only when you have already drafted cards you may think “oh this card might work with the previous cards”.
It reminds of Battlegrounds where you “draft” the starting minions but later you might have to drop them so you don’t build the board based on what you picked level 1.
It’s always been the problem with the Arena
You can gamble and take that class leggo which you’re dying to play…
or you can play it safe and pick the value neutral.
If you want to pick option A), you should stick to constructed, though. Arena is arena.
