Giving a reborn minion reborn. Double effect?

I’m guessing not, but curious if it works.

Would the minion come back to life twice?

I think it will summon two reborned copies at once

I highly doubt that.

Or it does nothing, like giving a Divine Shield minion Divine Shield.

EDIT: come to think of it, that would be one way of making reborn different from just a deathrattle effect. Deathrattles can stack.

Giving a Rush minion Rush doesn’t give it a second attack, and Reborn is a baked-in effect to a keyword. Giving a Lifesteal minion Lifesteal doesn’t cause it to heal you twice for its damage dealt since the keyword is already present.

That’s exactly how I was thinking of it at first. Some buffs stack. If Reborn works like divine shield as they have stated, it just has an effect around it stating it has reborn…but divine shield doesn’t do anything when it goes away whereas Reborn does.

The only thing else to compare it to is deathrattle which we know can stack.

I’m thinking it doesn’t stack, but it would be nice to find out officially.

If a spell has multiple instances of Twinspell, you will not get a copy for each Twinspell present on the card, but only one of the Twinspells will be consumed per cast. Source: The treasure card “THE… Candles?” from the Dalaran Heist.

Reborn could work the same way, it could also trigger both instances at the same time or it could just ignore any instances beyond the first. We won’t know until after release unless we get dev confirmation one way or another.

Yeah, I’m not sure if it will tag on a second instance of “reborn” on it, or if it will just be like “well, already has this keyword.”

So far I think only priest has to worry about that via psychopomp though.

But could you imagine if that psychpomp resurrected the Colossal Moon guy? Yikes

Just like how 2 Lifesteals don’t stack, I doubt 2 Reborns do.

The difference with Deathrattle is that Deathrattle is not an effect on its own but rather a trigger condition for the effect that is described after it.

And heck, some Deathrattles don’t cause something to happen double. For instance, if Sherazin’s Deathrattle triggers twice, you don’t get 2 dormant Sherazin’s. So, I see the same happening with Reborn: even IF multiple Reborns can trigger, they would all trigger (thus depleting even the original Reborn) but still only reborn once.

Devs were comparing Reborn to Divine Shield in effect (has visual indicator, keyword stays there even if there’s no Reborn to activate like on a minion with DS post-trade) so I would lean towards it behaving like Divine Shield in that instance.

If a minion glows golden, then it doesn’t take damage once and loses the glow. If a minion glows eerily, then it comes back once and loses the glow. Easy and simple.
