Giveaway of 2 packs that was not announced,

I have not seen it announced on any of the obvious places so if it’s announced it was a bit cryptic (maybe hidden in a patch notes?).

Go to twitch and until tomorrow there are 2 drops (an 1-hour and a 2-hour).

I would rather have a barium enema as opposed to watching or playing 2 hrs of this steaming pile of busted rng for a measly two packs.

most people have it play on muted tab behind other pages(they don’t watch) and just collect the free packs, and no one said you have to but if you want two free packs they were available.

One benefit to getting those 2 free The Great Dark Beyond packs is that they will be usable for the prerelease Tavern Brawl as will the 4 The Great Dark Beyond packs that can be earned from:

“Community Days return with free packs you can use in the Pre-Release Tavern Brawl! From October 29, 10:00 a.m. (PDT) to November 2, 10:00 a.m. (PDT), you can get up to 10 packs just for watching any Hearthstone stream (2 hours per drop)!

  • 1st Drop: 3 Whizbang’s Workshop Packs
  • 2nd Drop: 3 Perils in Paradise Packs
  • 3rd Drop: 4 The Great Dark Beyond Packs

Tune in to your favorite streamers or host your own party in this category-wide celebration of the Hearthstone universe!”

The prerelease Tavern Brawl will have a P2W advantage for players who bought prerelease bundles.

Yeah the Tavern brawl is cards from core set(excluding prince renathal), event set(the gifts and avatar I believe), Wizbang set(except wizbang himself), Perils, and Great beyond cards
with this as a bonus note
We may also ban more cards during the event if needed, but if we do, we’ll invalidate decks with those cards and give affected players a refund on their entry for that run. Also, note that Standard Packs will not include The Great Dark Beyond cards until the expansion officially launches on November 5.

costs 300gold(two tavern tickets or 400runestones) and gives minimal 1 great beyond pack and 1 PIP pack but caps at 6wins for 4 great beyond packs
so you are wagering 300 for 2 packs to 4 packs; low risk low reward

Oh right thanks. I was too distracted by their silly faces on the image and I didn’t read that article.

Not sure it’s an advantage since optimal F2P gaming dictates to not open them before Standard packs.

the thread tittle should include "posting on blizzard hearthstone website doesnt count "

wouldn’t that make it more pay to win; whales/streamers(not to call them out as they can spend what they want on the game, their choice) will buy and collect all(whatever they need for this TB) cards from this set with Dark beyond packs not standard where F2P must wait for Nov.5 for standard packs to have new expansion cards and “can’t open” for the prelease Tavern Brawl on Oct 29th

Opening order for packs can make a difference based on your goals:

“- Always open Catch-Up Packs first, since their card count is based on collection size.

  • If you want the most total cards (fewest duplicates), open Expansion Packs, then Class Packs, then Standard Packs.
  • If you want more latest-expansion cards, at the cost of more duplicates overall, open Standard Packs, then Class Packs, then Expansion Packs.”

If you open Standard Packs later you also get new expac cards for them, which might even include more legendaries (of the new expansion) that you don’t have.

What whales (in the sense of big spenders) do was not something I was analyzing (I was only talking about F2P optimization).

Sure, but the default “average F2P player” advice is first the old expansions and then the standards and then the new expansion packs.

This is from Celestalon too by the way (the Dev) (with an explanation (“what you want the most goes last”)).

Right that is fine and all I know not of optimizing for F2P anymore as I started spending some money back in Knights of frozen throne and increased to spending too much in Boomsday, now I’ve backed off as my dust pile is big so anything I want I craft.

I was saying the Tavern brawl isn’t free to play friendly as you won’t be able to open saved standard packs for Great beyond cards until after it ends(I think the set launches the last day of the tavern brawl but semantics)

To have Great beyond cards for the tavern brawl you’d have to break this rule so as f2p you’d have to either wait to do your 1 free run on tuesday or open new packs early

I don’t get why you contradict those two. One could do both. I will probably not open anything until expansion unless I miss something about the mechanics of these events.
