So I hit legend this morning for the 5th consecutive month and I decided to actually play a bit .
What i noticed was that most of the matches i received were players who were Diamond rank 1,2, or 3, struggling to climb the ladder.
I don’t like the way it feels knowing that my win is keeping them from progression.
I know all too well what it feels like to get close and then get knocked back.
I think Team 5 should find a way to do better.
Legend players should be the avenue of last resort for players at diamond.
Personally I think diamond players should be fine to match with. But it should never match with anyone below that for sure.
I felt so bad playing against them. Like I was just there to make their climb harder…
Then just concede and let them have their game?
If Diamond 5-1 players had to go through Legend players to become Legend, then that also means that us Legend players who had climbed from D5-1 also had to do the same. Players aren’t inheritently deserving of their rank just cause it’s their goal.
Plus with Legend being easier to get than ever before, if you can’t make it yet then you probably don’t deserve it.
I’ve had this thought before too, but remember that the reason hitting Legend feels rewarding is the ladder experience. We’re all part of that. If you hit Legend without any resistance it would feel empty.
That’s one way of looking at it and your answer says a great deal about you.
Personally I think it stinks. i don’t believe matching would be that much slower if legend simply played legend.
I agree with this. If the game thinks a player is good enough to face Legends, they should be elevated to Legend rank. If the gamr thinks a player doesn’t yet deserve to be in Legend rank, they shouldn’t face Legends.
Well, I disagree. i don’t think a legend player should be matched against a diamond 3.
MMR can span a wide range at Legend, since you can’t downrank.
Why shouldn’t these fair matches be allowed?
As I’ve said. It just feels bad to me. Others need not agree.
It says a great deal in that I believe that anyone who has the abilities to make Legend in both the “skill” (lol) of playing this game and the necessary time to put into actually grinding for it can do it. Simple as that. If you aren’t Legend, it’s cause you don’t meet the criteria. And playing with difficult players and decks is among that criteria.
The old system was better, to be honest, where it was more cutthroat. However, the big flaw is that not enough players were placed in Legend at certain times of the season which made queue times literally 2-5 minutes long. It’s not worth that.
Let Diamond players face Legend players even if it means they have to face a higher rank. Again, it’s already easier to get to Legend in this system than it was in the previous one, which means even if you are against higher ranked players it doesn’t necessarily correlate with them being better than you. Players can easily plow through low MMR Legend players as Diamond and get right past them.
I meant no offense and I do see your side, I just don’t like the experience of knowing I’m keeping a player from progressing should I win.
Wow. It says he views things logically and not by his feelings. If everyone gets a participation trophy, what value do said trophies hold? Matching is by MMR, so you are only higher ranked because you have played longer, not because you are better

eceived were players who were Diamond rank 1,2,
You are playing in wild. Or your legend rank is 15000+.
I made last month the test and even posted the results on this forum by tanking my mrr (losing on purpose) and I only got to face diamond players after rank 18000.
You forget that I am not speaking on behalf of the player trying to level, but as the player keeping them from it.
To me that feels awful.
How is that arbitrarily wrong to gatekeep at Legend than it would be any rank floor?
I once spent 5 hours at my night job trying to hit Rank 5 in the old system only to repeatedly hit Rank 6 3 stars over and over and over before dropping down and eventually giving up. Did I deserve to be Rank 5? I could argue yes, since at many times I did beat other R5 players even as R6, but I didn’t. And it felt like complete s**t. And I accepted that. You work for the ranks and you accept the real achievement it becomes when you actually are capable of overcoming the obstacles. Nothing in this game should be handed out just cause someone feels bad.
In my own experience after having reached legend is that oly the first 2 months of playing in legend you would match against diamond players.
these days its only agaisnt other legendplayers.
I don’t consider it a “handout” as you call it, if a Diamond player faces other Diamond players to get to say rank 1. After all; you are all in the same tier and playing for the same goal.
I can see facing Legend at rank 1. If you want their rank, you have to beat those players.
But playing a Diamond 3 feels bad to me.
But that’s the thing. Everywhere in the ladder people are not playing against other players of the same rank. Why else do you think Ranks are not visible until Legend?
I once played against streamer ConcernedMom as a low Platinum player and he was low Diamond. I only knew he was low Diamond because after losing the game to him I saw he was streaming that cancerous pre nerf turtle mage and could see his rank on his screen.
The new system doesn’t place people by rank anymore, so even if it makes sense to do so, it’s also equalizing it by current skill and results and not an arbitrary display badge.
Well; I know why it is the way that it is, but that doesn’t make me like it more.
It just seems like the laziest, cheapest, way to execute matching to me.
Good talk:)
