Maybe that’s because you’re trying to use common sense, while it’s possibly bot logic that applies here: link —> delete post, no matter the contents (in this case, official comments by a community manager).

Doesn’t mean anything, bots could have been tweaked or human ‘moderators’ could have erred.
Besides, those ‘moderators’ sometimes do… weird things in general (delete absolutely innocuous posts or topics, ignore blatant violations etc). It’s hard to tell whether it’s crude bots or really incompetent humans who pay no attention. 
Anyway, looks like the relevant link stays for now. I suggest that you bookmark it if you wanna keep it for sure.
