For me it started going down hill with lazy “discover” came into play. Out went the critical thinking they put in previous expansions and in came the business model to just pump out expansions and mini sets while lessening the quality of the game. The game takes less skill than ever and it worse and worse. I’ll be surprised if this game is around in 2 years maybe even less than that. It’s dying a very quick death
I validate your frustrations. You may go free, now, child.
The game has been dying since it came out of beta and here we are 10 years later. Addicted Blizzard Drones can’t escape the game they are too afraid of missing out. So it will probably keep going until we get something like the VR you see in anime where you put on a helmet and are in the game yourself.
We are still here, but are new players?
I expect this game to go into maintenance mode, or be scrapped at some point.
At some point, Earth will get destroyed, lol xD
The current constructed game state is about exactly what I expected it to be when I made predictions about what HS would be like in ten years, during year one.
It should have taken twenty years to get to this shabby of a game state.
I find it hard to believe the game is attracting new players.
I think maintenance mode or discontinuation is inevitable.
Maybe HS 2 or something.
then dont use it
play how you want
The issue for them is they just lot to it, thus they are here complaining about it
You’re thinking unrealistically if you think this game is anywhere near such a state.
Mall, I highly suggest you embrace how this game is trending or simply let it go as you’ve stated several times here you were going to do. I took a year break and only came back because of the theme of this expansion and a desire to get back into Standard, and I can say it was a nice breath of fresh air for me and the mode. It won’t fix anything, but it did help me a bit.
Was this really necessary? I think it is a more than fair observation to say this game isn’t attracting new players.
You need not agree. You also need not call me names.
It’s a state of being, not a name, and I’ve never seen it as offensive but descriptive. I can change it, tho, if you’d like.
Please do, as you have no idea what I am. You are not my physician, and you are no fit judge.
Kindness costs nothing, and if you cannot employ that small grace, I would prefer you not speak to me.
You posted to a public forum. Tho, I could have probably gone about it better, I can judge as I please, as well as you can of me here.
Let’s try the kind way - please do not doompost here about the future of the game many of us still like, even if don’t agree with the state of it at the moment.
This is doomposting:
If a new player comes on the forum and reads this, you’re making it more likely to become true just because they read that comment, and it can make people in general feel bad.
So just like you don’t want to feel bad because of what you read on the forum, other people also don’t want to feel bad because of other things they read on the forum.
I hope I was being kind enough
Stating the fact that no one new is being attracted to this game is not “doomposting”.
As for my prediction? That is opinion, and neither are against the rules.
And maintenance mode is generally what happens to digital products once people stop investing in them.
Apologies if hearing things you do not wish to bothers you so.
Is it the fact? Do we have data about it? Because I see new players come here with questions and complaints all the time, but I’ve no idea how many of them we have. I know my brother started playing 16 days ago, so that’s another new player.
Well, neither is pointing out that you threatened to leave so many times but instead still rather doompost everyday xD
It does, because I like the game and I want to see it last for a long time. When you play a game for 10 years, you become sentimentally attached to it, or at least I do
Anyway, no hard feelings, we don’t need that. We could just use more…how do I call it…cognitive empathy? So we don’t do to other what we don’t like others doing to us.
Fair enough. But it is the height of denial to think that
this games’ growth rate is anything but stagnant.
I love HS, but real changes need to occur if this product is to survive.
i played twist on the pre discover days…it was soooooo booooring
This is objectively false.

The game can be described as in decline until fall of 2020. From there it was growing until summer of 2023 and since then it’s basically been treading water.
If your retirement fund was invested in such a way that it doubled since four years ago, you wouldn’t describe it as “dying.” And yet that’s pretty much the situation here.
Your feelings are not representative of the average feelings.
You’ve been saying this for years and most of that time the game was growing, not dying. Hearthstone could keep doing things just as they’ve been doing and they’ll still be around ten years from now. I wouldn’t want that, it’d make me unhappy, but it isn’t going to kill the game.
The idea that companies have to listen to you to survive, like they’re business idiots and you are to video games what Gordon Ramsay is to kitchens, is terribly conceited.
Careful
Mall is not to be judged per Mall
