Game is borring, give us NEW game modes

Standard - couple of same decks all time. 80% of cards not used from latest expansion
Wild - crazy OTK and agro decks constantly

This game is card collection. What’s the point to collect if u never play it. We need modes where we can use all cards, especially wild ones. Is that hard and expensive to sustain new modes ?? People would send them new ideas all time for updates and new stuff, they just need to implement it.

Bring back Duels n get rid of Mercs.

The game isn’t card collection, it isn’t even a TCG(you can’t trade), it’s a CCG, you’re meant to play the cards, either against AI or other players

CCG means Collectible Card Game.

BTT: Bring back Duels.

Competitive Card Game

No. I’m playing CCG’s for 20years now and it is generally agreed upon that CCG means Collectible Card Game. I just searched on Ecosia and found no site that claims otherwise. So I asked ChatGPT:
“What does “ccg” mean in a gaming context?”

Answer:
"In gaming, “CCG” usually stands for Collectible Card Game (sometimes also called a Trading Card Game, or TCG).

In a CCG, players build custom decks from a large pool of cards, which are often obtained through randomized packs. The cards typically represent characters, spells, abilities, or resources, and players use them to compete against each other.

Examples include:

  • Magic: The Gathering
  • Hearthstone
  • Pokémon TCG

Sometimes you might also see CCG in a broader digital gaming context as “Customizable Card Game,” which is a similar concept but often used for digital-only games where you don’t physically collect cards.

Do you want me to also cover the less common gaming meanings of CCG?"

I don’t agree with everything GPT said, but it doesn’t mention the word competitive at all.

So I made a quick research on where the term comes from. It was coined in the 90’s by Richard Garfield, the inventor of MTG, who called MTG a “Collectible Card Game”

I have designed the best game mode. Paper Mario style you run around the World of Hearthstone and meet other cards and go on quests and adventures, if you start a fight it starts a Hearthstone match.

There will be no new modes.

My interpretation of events: Hearthstone, itself, is likely on the cusp of being cancelled by upper management, for being more hassle than its modest profits are worth to MSFT. Team 5 are scrambling to improve the balance sheet in the short term to either justify the game’s continued existence (and their continued employment at MSFT), or to make it more attractive for a spinoff.

This explains recent years’ focus on cutting development and maintenance expenses, and aggressively trying to monetize every aspect of the game that remains. Team 5 is not in a great position to cater to its users.

There will be no new game modes… unless MSFT believes there will be a significant profit to it, or unless they spin-off the assets to another company who believes they can get a return on investment in it.

All just me reading the tea leaves. MSFT spent $60+ billion for Blizzard, and you’d better believe that they’re going to get their money back, plus some. Hearthstone on its own is piddling in relation to that; we’re lucky it’s still around at all. Enjoy it while it lasts, IMO.

No sence giving 60+bil to cancel development

That premium was for WoW. Hearthstone is a rounding error on the balance sheet.

They’ll continue with content and balance patches for Standard, Arena and BG’s through next year, or until the deal with NetEase is up for renewal. At the same time, they’ll continue to reduce expenses, and try to wring more money from the existing user base.

I think MSFT has decided that there’s very small potential for growth of Hearthstone outside of China. Shareholders expect growth, so management won’t invest in it, if there’s no growth to be had.

That is 100% incorrect. They didn’t by Blizzard for Wow, Starcraft, Hearthstone or any of the other mid games Blizzard has developed.

They bought the company for TWO IP’s and two IP’s alone. The first one they actually had to make a deal with the UK to split the exclusivity of the IP to get the deal done and that would be Call of Duty. The other one is well known but less people understand that Candy Crush is owned by Blizzard and is their top revenue stream. Those two games combined bring in many Billions. Far eclipsing anything else in the catalog.

You… just agreed with me. So what if it’s Candy Crush instead of WoW? Doesn’t change my point, or my analysis. No new modes, no new client, no new expenses. Hearthstone isn’t big enough – and they don’t believe it ever will be – to justify it. Just do the essentials to keep the existing user base playing and paying. The bean counters are calling the shots.

I expect Hearthstone will continue, but not necessarily always as a MSFT property. And if they spin it off, that might work out to players’ benefit. But it’s clear that MSFT won’t be investing in it beyond regular content patches, the quality of which may slide, if they decide to go cheaper.

I’ll be happy to be wrong, but I’ve experienced this ride from Team 5’s seat, and it feels very familiar.

Mostly because WoW played no part at all in their decisions to buy Blizzard.

No we will not get any new modes and we already know that. They will continue to put out Standard sets for China and will always keep BG’s around since it’s the most popular mode. Beyond that nothing else is coming to the game.
