Furious Howl - Hunter Common

Common · Spell · Fractured in Alterac Valley · Draw a card. Repeat until you have at least 3 cards.

As we all know, Face Hunter needed more support…

OG Voracious Reader effect where you can play all the cards you draw on the turn you play it. This seems insane, not only in face hunter, but quest hunter too.

yea, the one thing that made Facehunter bearable as a constant T1 deck is it´s limited reach, so you could in fact tech/play against it and had a clear plan of how to beat it.

So I really really loathe seeing it get premium card draw now (draw 3 for 2mana is insane).

I don’t mind seeing hunter get some reload (I’m very glad they abandoned that idea that draw is a hunter weakness and printed Barak for example) as long as the cheap cards aren’t too oppressive. Most of them are rotating out anyway (almost all of them from Scholomance).

Lot more average than people make it seem.

with the condition of an empty hand to be efficient this will only be useable for aggressive decks that unload a fury of cheap cards - so facehunter.

I also wouldn´t mind draw in general to enable some midrange schemes for hunter, but this is not that, this is more gasoline for facehunter.

I think this can be played in face, quest and even midrange hunter. Not that I have hope that midrange hunter will work, sadly.

Fairly minor but its not only playable at 0, at 2* cards in hand it’s still a flexible draw 2 for 2, nothing special, but this card could be ran in even builds of face hunter with the 2 dmg twinspell and that 4-5 dmg a hero power balista.

Yes odd quest hunter was always the more popular deck, but even quest hunter still had some decent wild mess around decks for it, I see this card primarily being a staple in face hunters midgame refuel, and potential experimentation in quest hunters in wild.

It’s kinda eh to see their approach to draw being so cheap was to make a true draw 3 for 2 mana for face hunter though.

at 3 cards you´d only draw 1 if i´m not missing sth? (3-1+1 is 3, so no more), so it only starts getting efficient when used as one of the last two cards in hand.

other than that i agree, i don´t really think adding a ton of draw over the last year made the game more enjoyable at all. It just made suppressive decks more consistent, streamlining deckbuilding by a lot.

I think it’s fine. The requirements for having no cards in your hand for maximum effect is fair. Otherwise it’s dead in hand as far as I’m concerned. Only the usual complainers should have a problem with this card, as they typically do, with nearly every other card that isn’t for their favoured class.

For everyone saying its not as good as people think, just remember when face hunter top decks this card with an empty hand.

2 mana voracious reader was run for a reason

This is actually a way better card than people think.

If you have this in hand and 1 other card, this is a 2 mana draw 2. And Hunter often has low card counts.

Obviously, the optimal play is this is your last card and is a 2 mana draw 3. But let’s be honest, a 2 mana draw 1 is “mediocre” and a 2 mana draw 2 (which will be the most used play) is monstrously good in Hunter.

This is like an auto-include in every single Face Hunter deck, and I’ll be back here after its release to say “I told you”.

Reader is way worse because it only activates at end of turn. This is an immediate effect.

Voracious reader on a st… no wait there is no stick, and only does it once.

Rather than face hunter, this screams quest hunter to me, though I’m not quest hunter would favor this card over what it currently runs.

Very good point on Reader.

Needing that burst to finish off a warlock or priest before they heal, Herr ya go play this card into Arcane shot or aimed shot or quick shot!!!

I’m not sure if Face Hunter has the space for this card right now. However, acting like cheap card draw in Hunter is going to flop seems like betting against the house. Quest Hunter seems like the ideal fit, but we’ve yet to see the archetype really thrive in Standard. The biggest flaw with that deck is running out of steam. Maybe Furious Howl pushes Questline Hunter into more of a meta deck? Not Tier 1, but definitely more viable.

More card draw that cost nothing. Will they ever learn?

I mean… It costs 2… And you need an empty hand… If this were in any other class, I wouldn’t be as scared of this as I am now

Yea part of what makes it so good is it encourages hunter to run an even lower curve letting them pressure faster without being punished because of all the extra cycling it provides

You don’t need an empty hand. You need zero or 1 other card in hand to make this absolutely worth playing.

You don’t think Hunters will pay 2 mana to draw 2 cards? They’d do it gleefully. 3 cards would be maximum effect and crazy value, but 2 mana draw 2 ALONE is crazy good for Hunter.

I was saying that I am scared of it, but if this was any other class card, it wouldn’t be as good.

That is just because hunter is already scary. Any aggro deck would love to have this card because running out of gas is the only real limiter they have.
