Fun teams in Mercs

Hey guys

Just interested in what teams you’ve had the most fun with so far in mercenaries, either in solo or pvp.

Thanks in advance :+1:

PvE: Orcs+Xyrella all the way, the tribal treasures are just too good. Some heroic bosses won’t go down to this comp but most will, especially if you manage to get Subjugation for Xyrella or Windfury for Samuro.

PvP: Almost got a Nature team ready to go. Kind of hyped as it seems to have a lot more nuance to it than BTX which is just attack attack attack. Bench-wise I don’t have Diablo so I’m going to use Anacondra instead.

With the addition of Cookie I figure Murlocs are starting to look viable but I haven’t tried them myself.

Xyrella+Samuro+? for PVE?
I usually use Cornelius to restore health but is there another option?

You can roll with Orcs in PvE:
Thrall + Garrosh + Samuro + Rokara and either Brightwing or Xyrella + Voone or Saurfang.

Notes:

  • Rokara’s Offensive Rally has synergy with Voone’s wyrm (particularly if it’s geared for windfury) and Samuro mainly (with Burning Blade he gets really beefy). She’s really good with Doomhammer’d Thrall, too.
  • Brightwing can offer team-wide healing whereas Xyrella cannot - however, in heroic Winterspring Xyrella’s -X atk becomes very useful. Also dragon synergy for Voone’s Fire Breath.
  • Xyrella, Brightwing, Voone and Saurfang can each be used to activate and fuel Samuro.
  • Whirling Blade + Warchief’s Command is a good late game combination for Samuro and Thrall - if you placed Samuro left.

Another comp I’ve geared really high is the nature comp:
Malfurion + Brukan + Guff is the core, but best additional synergy comes in the form of Karen Bloodhoof. The rest is very flexible, but farming heroic Blackrock I’ve been using Gruul + Tavish. You should switch Gruul out for Dawngrasp for additional speed manipulation and freezes.

Notes:

  • You can keep certain bosses almost completely out of action with Dawngrasp’s freezes + Malfurion’s root, which is where one of the biggest strengths of this comp lies.
  • Liferoot Staff is a must have on Malfurion on heroic, the sustain it provides may seem small, but it stacks over the game really quickly and makes some encounters trivial.
  • The starting order is flexible and depends on what you’re facing. Gruff + Malfurion + Karen offers a stoic starting line that can quickly eliminate a big threat and then sustain through the rest with ease.
Alternatively, Malfurion + Brukan + Guff offers the most insane turn 2. Whichever your order, you should never play Malfurion without either Guff or Brukan on the board.

The beast composition; you need:
Rexxar + Mukla + King Krush, which can then be supported by a great number of additions.
My favorites are Blink Fox + Millhouse for the AoE this starting line lacks, or Lady Anaconda and Dawngrasp - Warden Dawngrasp is so good you can slap him in almost any comp and it works. Speed manipulation every turn = profit.

Notes:

  • Blink Fox has an insanely stolen skill speed when leveled, and when combined with Lady Anaconda you can take out threats with attacks on this, usually, caster. This can come in clutch in some fights, particularly on Winterspring bounties.
  • The usual combo is Mukla’s Primal Power + Krush’s Apex Predator to take out an entire board on turn 2. Rexxar is the highest dps supplement, whereas Lady Anaconda can ensure the duo survives.
  • Since you have plenty of summons, Krush’s Terrify becomes a powerhouse later in the game when there’s only a single foe remaining. You shouldn’t waste turns on Nightmare Viper, but Rexxar’s Animal Companion is one of the best skills in the game when geared for Mama Bear’s Claws - which makes Krush’s Devilsaur a lot better, too.
  • Always use Mukla’s Big Brother as a gear. The turn 1 taunt is invaluable in later lvl 30 encounters.

A few other comps: Demons (not that good), Fire with Antonidas, Diablo, Ragnaros and Baron Geddon (is great at clearing Winterspring and Felwood).

You can look for the PvP comps on YT; usually those contain either the shadow mercs boosted by Vol’jin and/or Diablo + Tavish.

Fire Comp for farming PvE is good. Antonidas/Geddon/Rag can kill almost any mob in Winterspring on turn 1.

Comp that’s worked the best in pvp for me is Cairne/Diablo/Dawngrasp/Ragnaros/Geddon/Tavish. Sucks if you run into Gruul though.

For PVE I mostly just farm Banehollow and a team of Velen+Anduin+Cariel can clear pretty much every fight within two turns. Cariel could easily be swapped for something else, but her speedy taunt stops those annoying Satyr’s from summoning the 40+ HP minions which prolong the fights an extra turn.

I love running a Holy comp in PVP too, usually Velen+Anduin+Uther frontline and then flexing the bench depending on meta and what I’m running into a lot. I’ve been struggling to make it work as effectively lately though with so much Tavish, Diablo and the resurgence of Samuro… Uther tends to be the weakest link. It’s insanely fun when Anduin manages to get ahead and stack like 200+ HP though.

You don’t need healing when you can just brutalize everything with BTX (Blademaster, Thrall, Xyrella) and proper treasures.

Not really a synergy comp but for f2p easy aoe I have a build called “Millhouse with a dinosaur”, which is just literally a 12 + 10 + 19-20 global aoe comp for 41-42 first turn aoe damage on three clicks in a pretty to obtain f2p build off just 2 rare needs And a krush. Who looks bad until you realize you mostly only need to upgrade his +8 attack gear to do 19 damage and he becomes effective very quickly.

There could be mukla synergy, but I just throw a varden and a millhouse 12 dmg arcane explosion + 10 dmg varden flurry (f2p aoe), and a 19-20 attack crush works well.

It will one shot almost every encounter for banehollow normal and it did decent enoughish in normal blackrock fine until thaussian for the +3. Though it’s a build built around f2p 1000-2000 rare and like 300-500 epic coin access vs full maxed fire comps or holy grinders.

It’s not a PvP comp, or a whale comp but I find it’s good for one turning banehollow grinds and if you really want you can easily swap varden (aoe filler) for any other merc. it’s just good for one shifting every mob under 40 hp in the first turn on a casual f2p build with no ramp. A side effect is since all attacks use the same slot, you can play it pretty quickly too and tab out.
