I’m having a lot of success with this minion. It also really messes up Paladin (you can usually tell when they have Liadrin in hand) it also works as a sort of silence and dumps Librams, hits a lot of OTK combos (Bolner / Yshaarj / Owl (then morph the owl) / Nzoth / Quest Rewards / etc)
Also good for hitting big minions that get cheated out.
Just thought I’d share a helpful tip on a minion I see no one playing but is doing amazing work.
That was my original thought as well but turns out it’s not 100% true. Obviously, you play this guy in a control style deck or as a 1 off, but you’d be surprised how well he works against smaller minion decks because most of those decks are buffing a smaller minion (trogg) or are hiding their beneficial minion in hand and you can swap it and kill that minion.
It’s amazing against buffs, specifically against Paladin as any minion can have the buff. And as a bonus, you get a minion from their hand to land on board that you can interact with. If you go down the list of minions Paladin is running, most of them are minions with battlecry effects or need to be played on board when the Paladin is ready. Voljin is like a double disruptor to Paladin.
I wouldn’t compare it to blackjack stunner just because stunner requires a secret and also doesn’t have the swap effect. The swap effect is really important with Vuljin because it is a massive disruptor to combo decks, which are flooding the meta. If you look at the current meta decks and look at their minion list, you will find most minions need their battlecry and/or to be played when ready. Disrupting that while at the same time removing buffs or a threatening minion is pretty big.
In this meta, Voljin has a great double effect of disruption.
Shhh… Quiet you giving away all my tech i keep using on these Paladin fools that stack all their librams. Honestly though i have been using this for a while now in my DR hunter deck swapping out the early drops to put down the bigger minions from hand. It just turns out that bouncing theirs and pulling out their own minions is also good in this meta. I kind of wish it wasn’t a legendary.
It’s also worth noting that he can be used on your own minions to bring out a huge minion of your own and keeping another alive to use the battlecry again.
This sort of deck tech is why I don’t want T5 to start chucking nerfs about quite yet, we now have quite a few useable tech cards vs combo, whether it’s minion based like Mutanus or Vol’jin or spell based like Neophyte, Frostbite or Ice Trap.
I still don’t think Hs deals with combo decks very well, but it would be nice if the players could balance the meta rather than a wave of nerfs and buffs imo.
I have a replay of me hitting an owl with voljin, then me mutanus killing the owl.
I actually think it went deeper than that. I think I voljin, he plays the owl again, I raise dead voljin and hit the owl again, then hit it with mutanus.
The nameless one is my key to destroying that big demon hunter deck also. Copy the guy that summons demons and it summons your 8 cost taunt. Massive hit.
have been playing around with BSM a tad…and i have to say bunker sergeant might be the most slept on card this set.
that 1dmg aoe does not sound like much, but it so often is just enough to hit a break point - or to just remove divine shields.
What about the minion with a defile attached? Any luck or experience with that in this meta? I don’t have a problem with aggro so I haven’t had to tech it.
