For the love of God, let us ban a class in ranked

I pushed for this way back in 2015, but it’s even worse now. This game needs to give us the ability to ban a single class (most likely Demon Hunter) in ranked… at least up to a certain rank, like Diamond 5 or legend.
I can think of so many reasons why this is a good idea, but the two most important ones are that certain overpowered decks make many of us not want to play; especially when they are being played in bronze-platinum. Also, it would encourage people to play their own deck creations, when they can identify their deck’s biggest weakness (most likely Demon Hunter).
Simply allowing us to ban a class also gives devs more time to nerf a class (most likely Demon hunter) before the community burns the house down.
I realize this is the internet, and I’m going to get a whole lot of **** for this idea, and that Demon Hunter has already been nerfed 3 times, but I don’t care… I’m tired of 2/3 of my opponents being Demon Hunters who don’t interact with me, in any way, and just hit my face for 6 turns until I’m dead. Even a deck with nothing but taunts isn’t enough.
Note: I would rather simply be able to ban them for myself, then have them nerfed every 3 weeks.

Then first u will find yourself in long ques.
and on top of that some people will climb super fast cuz they will be able to ban their counters.
If i didnt faced like tons of warriors i wouldnt be stuck at diamond 2 this month for around 2 hours trying to get something else.

The only people who would face queues any longer than a couple seconds would be those who are playing something that is completely out of control.
I don’t think DH is so out of control that everyone would be banning it right now; but I certainly would. A lot of people would ban Priest, due to annoyance, or warrior because they are arguably as strong (or stronger).
I DO NOT want to play against Demon Hunter anymore. I stopped playing standard, entirely, for that reason… but about a week ago, DH started taking over Wild, as well. And they perform even better there. It’s F*****G infuriating.

I would definitely ban Rogue. Not because its strongest or counter to deck I would be playing. Just because its the most RNG class on the ladder atm.

Mages laughing at this post xD

Actually mage isnt even close.

Gala rogue mechanic is tied to RNG. Generation of lackeys is RNG on its own. And its way more reliable than mage RNG.

While mage can completely turn the match if its incredibly lucky with for example Yogg, Rogue RNG kinda doesnt backfire in a way mage one do.

Generate random lackey - discover a spell, discover a dragon. Both spell and dragon generated from lackeys has a potential to lead to another randomly generated cards. Summon random 2 cost minion - another rng (way less powerful but still RNG),

Draw and reduce cost to 0 - another RNG that might actually guarantee you a incredible advantage if you hit right cards with it.

For Secret - another RNG, for highlander - another RNG.

I really do not think the mage is number one in terms of ammount of RNG available to them.

Maybe my post was misleading - I should have mentioned I am talking about sheer ammount of RNG and its reliability.

And then everyone just bans the class that counters them.

Bad idea.

A ban system is fine as long as there’s multiple classes to counter.

Not sure Hearthstone is really in a place where it’ll work.

I’d be fine with this in CASUAL, not ranked. In fact, I’d thoroughly enjoy it. Casual is meant to be the “fun” noncompetitive format and that’s where flexibility belongs.

But you shouldn’t be able to just pretend your counter doesn’t exist when you’re ranking.

If any deck someone makes has only 1 single class to counter it, then there is literally no hope for this game.
Arguments against this idea are so poorly thought out and easy to debate (so far).

The whole point of ranked is to play against any and all decks to prove your ability. Being able to remove your worst matchup goes against that.

You haven’t thought this through.

I got to legend with enrage warrior this season. If I could have banned priest, I would have literally just skipped the entire way up leaving a pile of DH, hunter, and rogue corpses in my wake. As it stood, priest was a very difficult match-up, and it NEEDS to be otherwise there would be no stopping this deck.

You can really do this with any deck. Want to be zoolock? Ban DH and you basically auto-win to legend.

Want to play DH? Just ban priest and get obliterated by enrage warriors. Or ban warriors and face a horde of priests. Sorry, DH is done. Try a different class!

If you ban your counter, you can just make your deck even more focused against its other matchups. It will only amplify Winrates of the strongest decks.

I don’t find DH particularly difficult. I like playing against them with my dragon warrior for two reasons

  1. I’m at 50% win rate against them

  2. I know the game won’t last for 17 minutes while a priest or lock is setting up some OP OTK game.

This suggestion has always been and always will be a stupid idea. Looks like you just reached…

So how about no?

You can blacklist (ban) up to 2 battlegrounds in WoW so if Hearthstone had this I would ban Priest and Mage and just concede against DH when it comes up.

this would be such a bad idea. you should not be able to ban a class even in trnys

I suggested this about a week ago and I didn’t even want it done in ranked…I just wanted a week removal from casual cause I enjoy playing meme fun decks… just not up against tryhard sweats who play HL hunter, res priest, and big druid in casual

Big Druid is a tryhard deck?

You know what’s even more unbalanced than 1 meta?
9 mini metas where certain decks have no counter, so it becames a cycle of banning your counter, getting banned for having no counter, then sitting on the queue line for hours on end, and if that does not happen, everybody shoots up directly to legend.
Bad idea, even moreso because we can barely have a balanced meta, let alone having to balance cards when there’s no necessary counter to them.
