Firemancer Flurgl, Toxfin is wrong programming

Firemancer Flurgl given poisonous buff by Toxfin should not cause Firemancer Flurgl to poison enemy minions. Poison is a direct attack ability which does not effect abilities of cards such as Firemancer Flurgl. If Firemancer Flurgl is given poisonous, its ability should only deal 1 damage to all minions and not poison them.

This is 100% false. Poisonous is and always has been an ability which triggers upon dealing damage, not just attacking. Poisonous working the way it does with Flurgl is intentional.

Did you even bother to read the tooltip that appears in the game when you hover a card with the keyword Poisonous on it?

Poisonous
Destroy any minion damaged by this.

It does not say “direct”. Nor “attack”. It does say “damaged”.

This interaction has existed at least since Knights of the frozen throne with deathstalker Rexxar, if it was unintended then it would have been removed then

hey thanks for the idea ill add it to my deck

The interaction works as intended.
A dreadscale combined with any poisonous beast from Deathstalker Rexxar works the same way.

Legendary · Minion · The Grand Tournament · At the end of your turn, deal 1 damage to all other minions.

Venomizer and Missile Launcher saw play in mech hunter to clear your opponents board.
Same interaction.

Common · Minion · The Boomsday Project · Magnetic Poisonous

Rare · Minion · The Boomsday Project · Magnetic At the end of your turn, deal 1 damage to all other characters.

I understand that it has existed in the game since almost the beginning, Un’Goro (rogue weapon given poison then blade furry <technically still physical, 3 card combo) but it still doesn’t change the fact that it does not & should not apply to card abilities because when a minion uses its ability, its the ability deals the damage not exactly the minion. Poisonous has always been a physical application effect.

Given that Firemancer Flurgl (2 mana) & Toxfin (1 mana) have an extremely low cost for almost absolute board clear, then you can play more low cost murlocs if need be. After you just continue to buff your board for control. Not to mention its easy for a few classes to be able to have multiple Firemancer Flurgls in a game & there are other card that can at a low cost give poisonous.

This is absolutely 100% unequivocally false.

Now you’re just trolling. Poisonous is triggered on any damage originating from the Poisonous minion, not just attacks.

The in-game tooltip literally says this;

Poisonous
Destroy any minion damaged by this.

You can learn more about the Poisonous effect here;

Just because you don’t like it this way, doesn’t make it incorrect. Poisonous has worked this way since its inception.

Care to give an example?

I have already explained that multiple time…?

Don’t feed the trolls, folks!

So should Knife Juggler not work this way as well?

No, you haven’t.

If the minion has that ability, it’s the minion that deals damage.

yes.

Once.

Twice.

Now Thrice.
:star_struck:

Saying you have explained it multiple times is not an explanation on how the way poison ACTUALLY works is wrong.

No, if the minion deals damage, the poison gets applied.

Yes it does. That’s what you’re complaining about. That it does affect abilities of cards such as Firemance Flurgl.

Also, that quote was in relation to:

So, please, explain again how Spectre’s statement is false, and do give examples where AoE damage from a poisonous minion doesn’t kill it’s targets. Spoiler: you can’t.

What about spitting cobras?

They shoot their poison. Be careful! It’s going to make you blind! It’s getting close! Oh, no! Call a doctor!!!

The general concept of addition effects happening with minions that deal damage outside of attacking has existed since GvG. There was a card called mistress of pain which had the old lifesteal text, if you somehow combined that with auchenai soulpriest attacking with mistress would kill you because the healing from mistress turned into damage, the game had always seen this as mistress dealing damage which would again activate her effect.
This is just the same, back then it was seen as the minion itself dealing damage and right now with flurgl it is seen as the minion dealing the damage thus poison will work
