Final Two New Druid Spells

So, a second spell that discounts when your mana is at 7 or more, and a new, unconditional ramp spell.

This expansion is really gonna be huge power level wise, ain’t it?

Will we get 2 excess mana cards at Max like Wild growth?

Probably not. Astral Communion only gives one card draw at 10 mana.

More zero cost spells for wild druid to exploit. Great.

Wow, as if druid didn’t have enough ramp. Embiggen druid is going to feel dirty with this.

Huh. Gives something to think about.

Wild Growth on 3 happens a turn earlier, but has half the effect. Overgrowth can only happen on 4, costs more, and you only take advantage of it for the next 5 turns. Wild Growth ‘gives’ 6 extra crystals, Overgrowth gives 9, if played on curve.

But Druid is getting a couple of these ‘if at X mana, do Y’ cards. It’s a little cutesy, but it looks like it’s possible at 5 mana to Overgrowth to 7 empty crystals, and then activate the free Bog Beam.

It’s also a way to change up the curve. Wild Growth on 3 makes some 4 cost cards awkward. With the option of Overgrowth, 4 cost cards make more sense, if you want a deck that focuses more around them.

Think Overgrowth will end up becoming a fairly integral card.

All this stuff could go into some kind of turbo cycle deck with Overflow, these spells that become 0-mana are fairly easy to dump from hand. EDIT: Also could feed Kael’thas

Isn’t it just Breath of Dreams into this. Just skip Wild Growth

There’s an interaction here that might not be obvious at first: you can play Bogbeam after ramping to 7 mana, with 7 empty crystals. Same-turn tempo off of a ramp is quite strong…

you know what irks me a lot? the existence of both, breath of dreams and overgrowth

a year and some ago, they decided to nerf wild growth AND nourish, saying something about ramp being too good and these 2 cards being played on almost all druid decks, when the real problem was ultimate infestation

fastforward to today: we got breath of dreams last expansion, which is wild growth on steroids, and overgrowth, which is a better ramp tool than nourish ever was so basically powercreep…

so why did they nerf the 2 cards to begin with? and why design new cards for the same effect instead of just accepting their mistake and reversing the nerfs?

So now we get breath into overgrowth into 7 cost minion. Hmm whats a good 7 cost minion in embiggie druid?

Overgrowth is my 2nd pick for most op card after the mage incanter flow

2 crystals for 4 is 1 crystal for 2 which is pre nerf wild growth. Like ppl said why were these cards nerfed if u make better versions ofthem?

You know why? It’s because they were dumb to think Ultimate Infestation and Spreading Plague were balanced and Wild Growth wasn’t. Instead of admitting that they were wrong, they kept the cards as is, let the unbalanced cards just rotate out, and reprinted ramp cards as a cop out way of not admitting their mistake in response to the outcry of the public.

They’re trying to make Spell Druid a thing again. WHY are they trying to make Spell Druid a thing again? Spell Druid will never work because Druid spells aren’t generally worth casting. Spell Druid would need something it doesn’t currently have … a finishing Combo.

So Druids are supposed to survive a storm of DH aggro, draw the whole deck, and get some sort of Malygos, Moonfire, Sunstrider, Starfire combo?

They nerfed the ramp because of Ultimate Infestation, as you say, not because the ramp that had been in the game for five years was actually a problem.

Now that UI is gone, ramp is fine. But it is still probably better to have it rotating, but then the question is

why not just have a rotating core set

Bog Beam is nice when it costs 0. Kind of wish it was 4 damage instead of 3 as 4 tends to be a more critical break point.

Overgrowth is the first unconditional ramp card we’ve seen in a while. It makes post-nerf Wild Growth look like hot trash. Not sure it’ll push Breath of Dreams out of the meta as the current ramp king, but should see a little play.
