The ranking information has been opaque as Blizzard has not been the most forthcoming about % even in the previous ranking system. Except that in the previous ranking system, it was still easier to gauge for yourself.
And so for the new system, if blizzard continues to be as quiet about the ranking system by % just as they were quiet with the old system - that would really suck.
I also believe the quick concedes arenât taken into account. I also have a theory that if the opposing player doesnât have lethal on the board and you concede, it is also discounted somewhat too. They probably have numerous methods of looking at what you did during the game to try and decide if you were really trying or not.
I agree with this. When doing the âplay X matches as X classesâ quest, Iâve noticed that instead of the old 15hp threshold, it needs to either be turn 10 OR for my opponent to have lethal on the board. Iâve conceded on turn 6 against lethal before and gotten credit for the Quest, while conceding on turn 8 at 9 health against a nonlethal board didnât give me a completion.
Well, legend in the past tells you that you are maybe TOP 1%, rank 5 is maybe top 10, etc. This info is available only once in the past 2 years? So there u could still gauge.
In the new system, diamond rank 3 =? Gold 1 = ? Platinum 5 =?
Speculation, nothing else.
I just wanted to say somewhere that the new matchmaking system has basically ruined hearthstone for me. I have never cared much about rank but more about the fun of deckbuilding. Despite this I am a decent player and am usually ending in diamond or top 5 prior to this update. I used to rank up as much as I could with home brewed decks that were more fun than ultracompetitive. Now with mmr matchmaking through out the entire ladder I canât ever do this without just getting punished and stuck at a low rank for the entire season. Who cares about having to play nothing but the most competitive and cheesy decks vs other people that are doing exactly the same thing. Itâs not fun.
Playing against people of your rank is already a way to ensure that more casual players donât face better players- the good players climb the ladder quickly. This is just overkill.
As Iâve said elsewhere, it would be one thing if, when you reached a new rank floor, your star bonus next season lasted UNTIL that same floor. That way, each season you could reach the same rank youâre comfortable with more easily, then goof off with fun decks. But instead, youâre punished each season reset by having your star bonus run out the rank floor BEFORE where you reached, meaning a tougher slog before you can both rank up AND have fun.
Anyone who reads my post history knows I sounds like a broken record about this topic, but gawddammit, I was so excited to actually try ranking up in April and then the wind left my sails completely when I found out it worked this way. I barely play and almost never spend any money now.
I find it sooo much better. I can play MUCH fewer matches to get back to my previous ranking, get basically all the rewards at Diamond 5 without having to worry about legend grinding.
If they donât win now, that means you were beating the crap out of noobs with them. The new ladder means noobs donât have to lose to you to climb the ladder. Isnât this more fair?
You just told us you preferred when you were matched by rank so you could pwn noobs with homebrew decks⌠like you were literally a better player beating up on more casual/less skilled players and not moving fast through the ladder on purpose to play your preferred decks.
you can zerg a meta deck to diamond 5 then play any homebrew you like? If your homebrew isnât winning against people at your mmr, maybe you should try different cards or something? I am not sure thatâs about the changes to the ladder, is it?
Reading through the lines and what you might not even realize yourself is that you are basicly complaining about not being able to get free wins against lower skilled opponents/new players anymore. You are kind a disgusting actually.
I agree with this. I do like the new ladder, but they should adjust the star bonus to the same floor, not the previous floor. Then the âgrindâ is all progression.
Agree with above. Falling to a floor higher than you achieved the previous season makes the following statement by Blizzard false.
âIn short, having two matchmaking pools helps players progress in the ladder without having to grind as much, while still making most matches fair.â
In the old system you lost 4 levels, here you lose a floor that consists of 5 levels. The grind is greater in the new system.
I agree too. The star bonus should have one more star so that we reach the last rank and then can play random decks. Right now, in order to climb, I have to win, and this means playing only with the top tier decks only.
Why do you say that? I havenât seen anyone advocate for ranking up for losing. There are plenty of other rewards that donât require wins. All Iâm suggesting is that the multiplier carry you to the floor you had reached the prior month. That way when the ladder becomes more grindy, youâre actually progressing, rather than simply trying to grind back to where you were already. It actively discourages people from playing on the ladder.
