I’m a new player at beginner rank 30 and i’m facing players that have grand marshal rank? why are they putting me versus players that have played over 500 games?
Why am i facing GOLDEN hero players with grand marshal at B E G I N N E R rank?

Grand Marshall (and High Warlord) doesn’t mean much. It’s an indicator of how many games they’ve played, not how skilled they are.
Also, I am quite certain it takes far less than 500 games to hit that title.
Doesnt answer my question why do i face them at beginner rank?, i dont even have access to all the free core cards yet and im facing people with 500+ games done
You can get to grand marshall rank with a 0% win rate
If you are facing them, chances are their MMR is very low, or your MMR is high enough to see them
im at beginner rank ( ranks 50 to 1 - ) , how can my mmr be high enough to face people with golden heroes?
I don’t know, I don’t make the rules.
Are you sure they were golden heroes (500 wins) and not alternative heroes?
Alternative heroes are animated even if you don’t have 500 wins
You would have to be blind to not see the difference between non golden and golden hero because it also turns the hero power golden
I have a theory, but probably detective Selwynn knows it better than me
Are you sure it was definitely in the Apprentice ranks where they’re numbered from 40-1? It wasn’t a lucky pack opening with a golden Hero card which turns the border and hero power golden?
I don’t think it’s even possible to get 500 wins without exiting the Apprentice ranks.
Let’s suppose they conceded every second match so they never got a star bonus… 40 ranks times 3 stars is 120 wins. There is absolutely no way you would’ve encountered a 500 win player.
It is possible to in Bronze 10 though, the match after coming out of Rank 1. You sure it wasn’t that?
You can play players outside of apprenitice ranks while you are in apprentice ranks as far as I know.
The matchmaking is based on MMR, so basicly on how good you are, and while playing 500 games should make you better then a beginner, it doesn’t nessecarily do so.
So if you are pretty good even though you are still starting out, you can get matched with veteran players, as they can have your same skill level.
(Note: This is based on my lackluster information on beginner Ranks and Hearthstone matchmaking and not nessecarily the way it actually is.)
If you’re facing them, it means that the game thinks you have the level to play against them.
Having golden heroes doesn’t mean you’re a good player.
This is so true. There’s one mage player with a 1k portrait that I always face 4 some reason( I played all 10 classes vs him) and his deck is just bad in so many ways. I mean he can battle it out till midgame w/o problems and he has beaten me once over 50+ matches and that was because of a high roll and me not been able to find my draw with mage as well at that time, so golden heroes and even legend cardbacks means basically that the guy has some exp on HS now been consistently good at this game is a thing seldom found at low ranks unless you are facing 2nd accts exp players…
honestly, golden heroes don’t mean anything, everyone has them (even the 1k wins portraits) and maybe that guy took a very long break
The grand marshal rank can be obtained by just repeatedly losing. These players probably use bots to farm gold (you get experience from just having the game playing, not dependent on winning), and at the same time completed the honor grind.
If you can think of something terrible, chances are someone is doing it right now.
Rank resets every month.
But you don’t face players in the same low rank at the start of the month unless you have no bonus stars
