Extremely frustrated in Battlegrounds

I have no idea how players in the 6000 mmr can level up to level 6 after turn 5-7.

but I watch players 7000 mmr and above and it’s a totally different game.

Generally it’s a hero with a superior power that can manipulate the resource pool. It can also be that someone lucked out and got the ghost multiple times early on from a player that dropped out.

The hero selection at the beginning of a game is VERY important and is dictated by the minion pool for that game.

then they should add more info about the heroes at selection. Not having to download a damn addon/mod to show that info.

All I want to do is curse the bleep out of the players who beat me.

You dont need the add on. You know what heroes are good for you yourself better then any add on can tell you.

Like barov is good according to the add on. I always do horrible with barov so i never pick him.

Getting to know what tribes work well with what heroes, and what curves work well with what tribes, takes a bit of time and dedication.
You will become a better player if you try to do this yourself. Instead of having an add on tell you what the statistically best heroes are for a certain combination of tribes.

If you don’t want to use the addon it’s just going to take you time to learn which combinations work the best with each hero. There’s no shortcut to getting better at BG’s besides playtime.

Also this. My example would be Sylvanus , who is considered bad across the board but i regularly destroy lobbies with her.

doesn’t matter what hero I take. I can’t get the cards to build anything.

Plus they need to get rid of blasted stats stacking. That’s whats killing me. Nothing like facing elementals with 100+ health.

Scaling your minions is sorta the point of most tribes, especially elementals. They dont do well against poison however :stuck_out_tongue:

The trick is getting to the right tier soon enough to gobble up the minions that are helpful in scaling. I regularly have that problem as I rarely ever get to tier 6, sometimes Im eleminated before i reach tier 5. Or when I dont have that issue I arrived too late and other have stolen the scaling cards I would need to keep pace with the others.

One of my favorite strategies tho to help myself is when Im playing George, I will always purchase the taunt kobold that deathrattles 3 dmg to all minions. always. Its one of the few counters most builds can hope for to win against a fully divine shielded board of George’s. Ive had matches where I had 2 goldens of that minion in hand and a 3rd regular copy. I could tell the lobby was salty because only my losing opponents ever emoted after a match. lol.

I only get to choose between 2 heroes, so it’s extremely frustrating how the power difference is at 6500 mmr and 7000 mmr. I simply cannot compete at 7k but I do amazing at around 6500-6700.

Turn 10 I had no triples and the guy in first had 12. Twelve. TWELVE. He hit me for 36 and I went from 3rd to 7th dead.

If you don’t get a good hero, you’re fighting a massive uphill battle. Next game I got millificent which is high rated. Sweet.

Not a single mech was offered for 7 turns. Not a single one. 8th place.

Very frustrating.

That is annoying and there are games like that where it is a desert for your tribe youve been playing. I was playing a match where the quest let me gain 1 gold per turn every turn. I got up to starting the rounds with 29 gold. I went all the way thru all 29 and didnt encounter a single Dragon of any tier. none. there was only 2 others in the match left and neither were dragon tribe. I dont see how that should have happened, but I know there is a small and slim chance that it could happen, and it did.

You are amazing skill wise if you can get to 7k rating. be proud of that, ive never seen it. most Ive gotten recently is 6300 range. I only recently climbed up to the 6000 rating at all after years of playing bg. Its a commendable feat, so dont sell yourself short. Even given bad odds and poor choices in the past, you are doing really well to maintain such a high rating still.

  • do not fear to change tribes
  • do not wait for tripples if you arent is solid position
  • “tempo” some stronger minion is better than hoping for highroll tavern roll (again - if you arent in solid position)

Sure, if you get crap hero + horrible quest, your chances are decreasing unless you highroll. Just accept it and just fight to not finish 8th.

Statistically speaking encountering solid minions in tavern are abysmal. So everytime you see something that fits your board treat it as lucky occurrence rather than being pissed off you are “unlucky” to not find a Brann.

It’s a very rare game where you can play a full tribe build and stick with it for any amount of time. Even so i usually move off the full tribe about half way through the game into a small Menagerie build unless my opponents are not diversifying and are giving me free wins. But that’s only when i get a strong tribe opening as i pretty much always play for Menagerie.

On the whole you are better to just look for strong synergies between minions and not think about their tribe unless it’s triggering something. You don’t always have to go to 5 or even 6 to have a winning build. Some builds can be played staying at lower ranks and a smart player will stay at the lower ranks to farm out specific drops if the lobby is strong in that direction. It’s one of the main reasons Patient Scout is such an amazing card at any rank.

Stop kidding yourselves….

Something is wrong. I went up to 7200 rating and am now back to 6000. Most games are over at turn 8 to 10.

The game is broken. It’s not about skill, not decision making anymore.

Tip #1: pay 20$ to get 4 champs instead of 2 (sounds like pay to win?)
Tip #2: be lucky and get a starting champ that has super synergy with the right quests.
Tip #3: get lucky and actually get the right quest with the right champ AND achievable objectives of quest so you can get it done before turn 6 (which is when you have 8 mana)
Tip #4: get all the right minions that have the right combos and cynergy with your champ, quest all together… without re rolling, and make sure that the right minions pop out so you can get all gold elementals (and again, lucky enough to get the divine shield, or damage bleeding elementals, not the sucky 1st level one) so that at turn 9 or 10 you have a full table of 100/100 golden elementals that wreck havoc. (Oh and don’t forget to upgrade the tavern to get level 3, 4, and 5 elementals and minions that boost them).

Anyone at this point who talks about strategy, thinking you way through or « adjusting your game » along the way is delusional.

Battleground used to be fun because it was a learning game where you try to react, strategies and maximize your chances of « surviving » throug your decision making and adaptability.

A bit like poker.

Now it feels like on every single hand, a guy is pulling out a four of a kind or a straight royal flush… and you get a pair of 4s.

Anyways. Someone has to point me to a video of a pro explaining how to get a full table of gold 100/100 or the super synergy beast ultimate combo on turn 9 or 10, cause I am seeing this every game.

And in the hundred of games , maybe thousands I played, I don’t even know if i managed to pull this off 1 or 2 games out of sheer luck.

Something is wrong. Just face it

Oh, I forgot: it’s either broken, or some people have cheats or a reroll exploit of some kind…

A long time ago I was taught a simple truth about probabilities. Of all the options out there, they all occur because they have to. There is a game where someone topdecks into a triple every turn of the game once they get their first one. There is also a game where they never got a triple ever. There are a greater number of games where they got 1 triple and thats all. An even greater number of games where they got only 2. and so on til you reach a point where the numbers plateau and begin to turn around. But you must remember no game affects another game. So running 99 games ina row where you never got a triple ever, (however small the chances are) in terms of probability, is not a non zero chance of happening. SO when you feel like they are getting it handed to them and denied to you, over and over and over, its just the universal property of this scenario can occur this many times in a row because on a big multiverse diagram of probabilities, you exist in this one where X has happened to you Y number of times. Because It can, and out of all the options out there, there exists the universe parallel to all options available that these events happened in the order they did.
Coming to terms with that has made my kneejerk response in game to go from spending 29 gold in a row in a single turn to not finding a single dragon ever, of which I originally would just concede knowing I dont stand a chance of winning, to now letting it play thru and just a being acceptive of the bad outcome so far and seeing if I can luck out with the combat phase by any also slim chance

bran and double tripple battle cries gets you up up and away

You have a 50/50 chance of getting in the Top 4, so as long as you are getting in the Top 4 at least 50% of the time you’re doing fine.

Play Battlegrounds for fun. If you get the option of 2 heroes you don’t want to play, then concede and since that lowers your MMR, it wiill prevent you from playing in “all tough games”.

Then all problems solved!

Is there a reward for high MMR? – nope.

And if you care about MMR and you are doing poorly — remember – someone has to be at the bottom and it’s you.

Not everyone can be the best and accept the fact that you are BG cannon fodder for the “good players”.

is the mmr going to reset in season 3?

Because they’re playing for the maximum chance of not getting 5th or below, not to actually get first.

It’s a crap design that has perverse incentives for gameplay.

Sometimes the most promising line wont give you much change to win. But how is that a perverse incentive? Is anything that doesnt make players go for a the highroll a perverse incentive?

Its more like the opposite:The perverse incentive is players wanting to highroll over making the objectively best move. An incentive we all fall victem to at times.

Its the highroll rng cards that have a perverse incentive which apeals to the gambling instinct.
