Explosive trap and Divine Shield

When a minion with Divine Shield triggers explosive trap the trap still does damage to the hero based on the minion’s hp.

This is unintuitive and seems wrong.

Presumably you meant Explosive Runes, not Explosive Trap.

If you’re talking about Explosive Runes, this is intended. Divine Shield doesn’t change the minion’s health. A 4-health minion with Divine Shield will still get hit for 4 damage (which the Shield absorbs), the extra 2 damage will still spill-over to the Hero.

I’m sorry but if divine sheild negates damage then there should be no excess damage.

Explosive Runes deals two separate parcels of damage: one that is equal to the minion’s health, and one that is the leftover amount (if any).

The minion damage was negated, but the face damage was not.

That’s one interpretation. Another is that no damage is dealt so there should be 6 excess damage.
And both are wrong.
Explosive Runes deals damage equal to the health of the minion (but no more than 6). And if that is less than 6, then the rest is dealt to face.
