Title says it all.
Exactly how is a total immune (minions and hero) warlock fair, especially with a 12dmg lifesteal? I get it they have no deck, but come on, how is that fair or “balanced”.
Yeah I know, “have to have the right combo” but I’ve had it happen twice, fairly close together…
Feels like something you would see in wild, not standard.
This usually happens in the very late game. Its a win condition, just one that doesn’t kill you instantly (like most other win conditions do) and since it happens in the late game and is rather hard to pull off its accepted. Just pretend its a fireball to the face because that’s the equivalent…
How is it fair? Well every class has access to aoe removal or silence to stop hero immunity, only his new played minions will have immunity tho due to Jailer, but that’s the trade for destroying his own deck.
Exactly which card does mage have for “aoe removal or silence” since there are only two neutral cards that silence, both requiring targeting, which you can’t do.
Malganis+The jailer+ literal live forever un-killable un-damageable
So exactly how does one remove or silence a fully immune board and hero, outside of specific class cards like twisting nether or whirlpool?
Keep in mind The Jailer is a aura effect so starfish (the only neutral option for aoe silence) or class cards like shard of naru do absolutely NOTHING.
I would be very interested in knowing exactly how you clear a immune board without them.
Outside those two cards the only other options would be
Uther of the ebon blade and actually get all four horsemen on board (basically impossible and still class locked) or to have enough turns/draws to play the horseman card and get the others out and dead…again, virtually impossible
So great as mage I could freeze his board twice with blizzard and maybe a couple minions with the locations…then what?
There literally is NO COUNTER. He could pass every turn and just wait for you to burn all your cards and fatigue out.
Mage has an OTK that doesn’t care about minions on the board
Priest has zero issues removing them
Warrior can remove them with Brawl or OTK them (they could do this before without Odyn using cards like Trenchstalker, Olgra, and Remornia)
Paladin has such a strong early and midgame they probably never get to Jailer in the first place and if they do, now they have no taunt. Also, Anachronos
DK has a million ways to either push for damage or destroy the board
Hunter has damage throughout the game that makes a turn 10 give up all your taunts bad
Warlock can do it themselves with Twisting Nether and their Colossal minion
Demon Hunter pushes for damage but can admittedly lose. Unlikely since relic DH also just pushes for damage
Druid pushes for damage or Tony’s them before they draw Jailer. Obviously bad if it’s already in hand but usually warlock is dying before that even happens
Rogue has concoctions that can remove them, also just pushes for damage.
So yeah some of these classes deal with Jailer worse than others ONCE Jailer comes down, but there’s a reason Jailer is in literally like zero legend decks right now. He’s not bad but one of the main reasons warlock survives later is taunt minions and giving up taunt to make them big bois often times puts you in a worse position and all the major control decks just remove them anyway. If you can’t find a way to deal with it I’m sorry to say the issue is just a skill diff tbh
I can’t explain how it’s fair. I don’t know the deck like that.
I can explain why it’s fair. If you go to the latest Vicious Syndicate report, Data Reaper #269, and look up the winrate of Chad Warlock (that’s what they call the Archetype), it only wins 47% of the time in Diamond 4-1 and in top Legend. It’s simply not that strong of a deck. Having an overall losing winrate is proof that it’s fair.
And there’s why I stopped posting previously “skill diff” bros
I was legend last round, and about to make legend again 2 days into this round.
I’m not in here crying about it, I’m just asking a question, I have not played ranked in probably close to two years because blizz is the worst at balance.
I played pretty exclusively BG (and other games).
Just encountered the combo, twice in maybe 7 or 8 games and it just reminded me of why ranked has long been trash.
Anyone with 4 brain cells can either pay 2 win or like me, not play ranked in forever and have enough gold on reserve to fake pay 2 win and build any of the mandatory decks to rank (huntard last round).
Though I’ll make legend this round with a mid teir Mage deck as thats just the class I like playing. and then transition to whatever the mindless “meta” becomes.
This game is ANYTHING but skill based. Its pay to build, then RNG for who draws combo first.
Being purely turn based with no true dynamic interrupts (MTG) removes any real “skill” from the game and reduces it to the most basic of logic.
If blizz was even half competent about balance, then yes I would agree. Unfortunately they are not. They introduce new expansions, ignore anything broken, usually nerf the most stupid stuff, and say “everything as intended” leaving the game down to, play deck A or maybe B or tough luck until next expansion or rotation because the game then hinges on some broken combo that I guarantee the devs either never thought about or they are just masochists/sadist.
In reality, they are fine with it because it makes them money as it forces people to pay to obtain the necessary cards for whatever the current broken “meta” is, thus they make sure it rotates to a new class/cards.
As I said above, I have not played constructed in years, I honestly really don’t care that much, I just came back to this side to see if anything had changed…it hasn’t. There is a reason the vast majority of streamers switched to BG. I’ll probably play constructed for another week or so then be done for another couple years at least.
