Blizzard banned warlock stormwind quest in wild. They said that the card would be enabled once it rotates into wild, however, with a rework of some sort. I wonder if they will actually do this. If so, I’m excited to play it again in wild.
I don’t even think it rotates and stays the same. As it is now, it would still be busted in wild. With stuff like this in wild:
It would be utterly broken. They really messed up in designing the quest. It needs a complete rework on the reward.
They did say that when it rotates it would be unbanned. At the time when they banned it. It’s apart of the stormwind expansion and that rotates this April.
But lets be honest, That new warlock Legendary card + tickatus + bran … in wild that’s going to be interesting.
They didn’t just say that it would be unbanned when it rotates.
They said the quest would be unbanned AND changed when it rotates.
It’s not going to stay in its current form after it rotates.
From the 21.3 Patch Notes (the nerf patch that banned the quest):
When The Demon Seed rotates to Wild, we will unban it and reposition the card to be more appropriate for the format.
Exactly. The reason it is banned in wild now is because it’s broken, as is, in wild. When they rotate it, they have to fix it.
Uhmm…that’s what I said.
Yes, technically you did say that.
But just about everything else you’ve written in this thread suggests that you haven’t yet realized that the most likely rework that’s going to happen is the quest getting Warsonged.
No… that’s just an assumption that you have made. There is no reason for me to restate it again when I initially said it. You just happen to overlook it and make a point to correct me by saying what I have already said.
They literally just nerfed three balance outliers in Wild (Quest Mage, Pillager Rogue, and Disco Lock), and they’ve said they’re actively considering further changes (from the 25.4.3 patch notes):
For Wild, we’ve been discussing potential updates to the mode. In this patch, we’re making changes to help curb some of the mode’s negative play experiences. We don’t view these changes as exhaustive, but we are working on some more long-term updates that we’re excited to share once they are more solidified.
The idea that they’re going to just unban a massive balance outlier from a year-and-a-half ago without massive, gutting changes to that card seems rather overly optimistic.
I’m sorry I understand what you are trying to accomplish. You corrected me in what I said when what you corrected me on is what I said. So are you just arguing for the sake of arguing?
I never said they were going to unban the card and leave it as it was in Standard. Nor did I imply that.
I’m just not sure why you’re “excited” to play a card that is almost certainly going to be bad and/or bland. Most likely both.
Why would you expect the new version of Demon Seed — whatever it is going to be — to be exciting or even good?
I’m expecting that the card will be different, How different is yet to be seen. However, I enjoy playing quests, and I’m looking forward to seeing what they are going to do with it. A part of me feels they may just leave it banned, however, I’m really hoping that is not the case and I welcome any change they decide to do with it.
They’re not going to leave it banned.
That would make it unplayable everywhere, which is not something they ever want to do.
But it can’t be anything like it currently is.
And the chances the change creates something interesting are very small. Especially if you consider all of the quests that were never nerfed or banned and still see no play. Why would they spend time creating something new and exciting for Wild in a rotating card, when they could just create another unused filler quest that leaves Wild as it currently exists unchanged?
if i had to guess, they are going to make it so the warlock doesnt take fatigue dmg, which is what it currently does anyway
I’m guessing that they’ll only allow certain types of damage to hit the enemy hero. The main thing that makes that deck toxic is fatigue damage. Also wasn’t there an interaction with another card that was uncounterable and unbeatable? I would think they’d have to disallow that interaction somehow.
I agree that it needs balancing but changing the reward for the quest takes away the whole identity of the card.
I don’t know how else they can change it. The reason it’s broken is because of the reward. They shot their own foot with this one. Fatigue damage is entirely too easy and too strong.
Change the reward to where fatigue damage doesn’t count and lower the quest requirements and it makes sense.
Does fatigue damage still deal damage to your opponent after you’ve played the reward in that version?
I personally think they should do this a lot more often, ban stuff that’s obviously gonna be super broken in wild then adjust and unban as it rotates…
Balancing overall in wild format would be nice IMO.
