After getting into top 500 legend with token Hunter I wanted to play something different. Hunter is very consistent and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to hardcore grind for a top spot. For me, I like deck building and experimenting. The best part about hitting legend is getting to test new ideas vs try hards.
I wanted to build a deck that does well against at least hunter and warrior since they have been the most common classes I have seen. The best part of Warlock’s final Excavate, The Azerite Snake, is that it steals health AROUND armor. For everyone who is tired of Warrior gaining 50+ armor in a game, this deck is for you.
With this build you have enough resources to excavate 12 times. Other standouts are Symphony of Sins and Sargaras. The mill 6 from Symphony of Sins can be absolutely backbreaking against other control decks. Hitting Reno, Brann, or any other big piece feels SO GOOD every time.
Against agro there seems to be enough removal and life gain to make getting to the late game easy. Once Sargaras drops against agro they do not really come back from it. I think in my list Pop’gar the Putrid is the weakest link. I will probably be swapping him out. The top picks right now are ETC, Gul’dan’s Gift, Yogg’saron, or Gnomelia. Feel free to drop a suggestion.
Here is the deck list if anyone is interested.
