I finally made the legend push this month. I made it and let me tell you, feels crappy man. Who cares? The meta is just a clown fiesta of RNG and high rolls. I got to legend with a “tier 2 to 3 deck” (according to the forum intellectuals) that was evolve quest shaman - one of the most high roll decks in history. Complete trash of a deck, but then if that gets nerfed, what else do we have?
Quest druid? Yea. Don’t do anything for 4 turns and then get a 2 5/5 rushers and be able to heal for 12 with a 6/6 taunt. Then have insane synergy and tempo once the quest is complete. It’s frustrating not because “just play teh aggrruuzz”, but because it works many of the times. A deck that does nothing for 4 turns WORKS.
Highlander mage? I see this a lot at legend. Every time lunas pocket pu%%% drops, I know that the game is going to be an imbalanced nightmare of OP 1 turn plays. Antonidas for 1 mana? Alex for 1 mana? Then when you lose board, just throw down a puzzle box of yogg and hope for one of the most frustrating things to watch if you are ahead as an opponent - it’s honestly dumb AF.
This game has just become such a clown fiesta of RNG and broken 1 turn plays. I never feel like I won or my opponent won because of good play. I know that you are going to have an element of RNG in any card game, but I just feel like team-5 is now nearing stupid levels.
No one says that that I’ve seen. Quest Shaman pre-Evolve was tier 2 but Evolve/Quest Shaman post this patch has firmly become tier 0ish.
So Priest as well. It has had many tier-2 decks that would prefer to do nothing for the beginning of the game. Nam lt, anything with the Resurrection mechanic outside of the one OTK deck.
I think the issue isn’t so much the broke stuff, every deck in the history of CCGs is trying to hitnits broke turn/interaction, but that the current meta is really, imho, highlighting how horrible not being able to interact with an opponents turn is to the game. Just my opinion though.
I understand why they would want to differentiate themselves from magic and how it could be frustrating for every play to be countered, but the RNG is just too damn high.
You don’t need Coubterspells though. Imagine Evolve Shaman if I could use a removal spell to stop Hare from multiplying or Mogu from Evolving.
Coubterspells can be annoying but right now on a highroll there isn’t much many classes can do about some of the situations created because transforms are limited to limit N’Zoth and turn 5 removals for Evolve are limited
One of the biggest reasons I see myself playing less and less Hearthstone is because there is more rng in each game than skills. Win or loss, I feel like a pilot that just opens the program and the game just plays by itself.
At this stage it is just losing both new players and old players. The game needs a serious re-vamp in my opinion. Unfortunately, after so much of the hype, the event really ended up highlighting some of the worst aspects of the game.
It was a complete oversight on the devs part putting that spell into the current standard.
Mainly because of the way the cards currently work. The current expansions are loaded with cards that split into multiple minions. The way these cards are coded was a nightmare for evolve. Because each split minion counts as the original minions cost.
The hare instead of being considered three 1/1 minions becomes three 4 cost minions with evolve. Which was pure oversight on blizzards part not realizing how these cards would interact.
And that is just the tip of the iceburg. What happens with one eccentric scribe spitting out 4 vengeful scrolls idk, Would that be four, seven cost minions for only seven mana spent? That’s 34 mana value for a seven mana cost. And Scarab Eggs three, three cost minions for three mana spent. Hare is just the quickest bang for your buck but this problem can get much worse as players explore the possibilities.
This is why I don’t actually invest anything in this game and if it was not on mobile I wouldn’t play it at all. I’ve spent hours sat at a console/PC playing other games but I would not say the same for this; I would never say to myself I’m going to play this game for an hour or two because it’s not that fun and really just frustrating. The card design is rubbish, there’s no interaction with your opponent (your just hoping to fill your win condition before they do and there’s nothing you can do to stop them), the rewards for ladder climb are non-existent and their idea of shaking up the meta, rather then address balance or fixing the stupid cards they made, is to just flood the game with dumb broken garbage that really only pushed murloc paladin away and brought in death rattle rogue.
This is a game purely to pass the time on the train for maybe 10 minuets at a time and out
Magic has its own problems indeed but instant spells and stuff are not what hearthstone avoid because it feels bad to gets countered all the time but they want smooth experience for playing the game on mobile or tablet.
They definitely went in the right direction when they introduced class identity through defined strengths and weaknesses just like colors and guilds in magic, but what they did instead was not congruent with what they said earlier. Shaman limited card generation?? Guess again, even if blizz get rid of shaman’s card generation they are still the best at exploiting minion with the ability to generate tokens in general, (with bloodlust or card like mogu it’s cool but with evolve or mutate not so much), mage is spellbased class with relatively weaker minion and not efficient for the mana??? Well there goes LPG and CC, Druid underlying problem is more severe than what you stated, they were getting nerfbats multiple times just because they had ultimate infestation and spreading plague on standard and nerfrrd the evergreen ramp cards instead, now druid has a hard time clawing back to find a way in this meta without token based strategy
The last time I bothered to do the legend grind when we had the most non RNG decks in the history of Hearthstone, Genn and Baku decks. You know what happened to those decks? People cried and stuff was retired before rotation and now we have clown fiesta casino mode back. Just remember this when you cry about clown fiesta we had consistent non RNG decks and you cried so hard that they were removed from the game a year early. You know the saying be careful what you wish for.
That isn’t just at legendary, down at the bottom feeder scrubs with hardly any wins in casual end of the spectrum all of the quests if not common are certainly not uncommon.
Druid is probably the worst, but there are the other class quests and it is possible that new players think that simply by having it they are more likely to win as they seem so overpowered.
It isn’t just the 1337 MLG pro ubersoldat end of the game that these problems occur, for some reason the developers think that putting in death knights, Baku and quests is a good idea and then they just become the default go to until they rotate out.
Somebody created Baku and it would be nice to find out who, we need to look for someone at Blizzard that got a massive pay rise, a massive bonus and a big promotion.
If you hate this game so much, why are you still here? You’ve been on these forums for over half a year and you constantly talk about how bad the game is, so why don’t you just quit?
