Why is this card not minion damage only? I mean then it would suck right?
Its too cheap and a huge problem for mainly rogue atm (sometimes lucky mage).

Itâs mostly fine in mage and shaman I think. More or less a fireball or leeroy.
Itâs a problem in rogue with the easy bounce mechanics. I think that when you bounce it back to hand the âturns stacksâ should reset back to 1.
Smart idea without making it too weak.
Because it only punishes greedy control decks. Agro decks do not have the problem.
Itâs a powerful finisher for a deck thatâs otherwise too âfairâ to compete. Tribal decks are always fairly basic curvestone that tend to have limited access to spells or interesting combos. The addition of some inevitability seems fair.
I will say, if youâre struggling with Lamplighter, consider ways during the game you might be able to break or take advantage of their elemental chain. Theyâre pretty much obligated to play an elemental every turn if Lamplighter is their win condition, so they always have to spend mana on something that might not be an appropriate play given the current game state.
Im truly curious how you can actually break the Mage elemental chain. So many of their elementals are very cheap and easy to play each turn.
At this point there are enough mage and shaman elementals with solid effects or stats above curve that there really isnât much of a downside to playing an elemental per turn.
The tribe just lacked reach if the opponents deck could fight back the stats in the later part of the game. That weakness was erased by lamplighter.
I kind of wish that card had not been made.
Yeah, i do think elemental decks need a card like this, except it is too low priced at 3 mana. A mana cost increase wouldnât be the worst idea.
A couple of classes have options to break it (Paladin and DK have Cold Feet, for example, which can force them to take a turn off). But more important is being able to take advantage of it, forcing them to choose between a mana efficient play to get you off the board and developing an elemental.
because it was added to the game as a possible win condition to build around
Only really feels bad with the bounces. The other cases arenât as bad.
Lamplighter is an easy fix. Simply give it ELUSIVE and rogue cant abuse it.
Lamplighter shouldnât be touched at all untill Zilliax is properly nerfed. In fact, Lamplighter isnât even in the top 5 of nerfs needed at the moment. What people seem to fail to understand is that pretty much all the powerful combos printed in the last couple of years is a necessary thing cause removal is running rampant. Until removal/discovery of removal is properly balanced this is what is needed, and itâs not any less âinteractiveâ than removal spam / armor gain.
I donât disagree. I feel like a handful of broken cards are all keeping each other in check right now.
