Boar Priest, Alignment Druid, Charge Warrior, Miracle Rogue, Minelock, Freeze Death Knight, Svalna Priest, and now… welcome Rivendare Warlock!
A little backstory to me as a player. I stopped going on the fourms because every time I logged on it was some template of “NERF [blank]”, “[blank] is overpowered!”, and the monthly “Hearthstone is RIGGED”. But as someone who has been playing for over 7 years, I can feel myself slowly caring less and less about the game I once loved. Not trying to sound like a typical forums whiner or anything, but meta with these decks have sucked for me personally. It takes a lot of the strategy out of a “strategy card game” when my only win condition is “I need my opponent to draw bad”… or play braindead aggro.
It’s probably my inner control player coming out, but I just wish there was more counter play to this stuff… or maybe just less combo decks. Hopefully I’m not the only person that has noticed the trend in introducing one broken combo each expansion (power creep or whatever you want to call it).

There was a brief period of time in which you got your wish and there was counterplay against combo decks. Not a lot, just 1 card: theotar. And then it was nerfed…and nerfed a second time. Renothal also helped survive damage-based otks while discouraging running combo-centric decks with him, but he was nerfed too. The community has spoken and they hate control far more than combo, and would rather die from hand than have a single card ripped out of their hand. It’s not a good meta, but it’s the one they’ve chosen.

Theotar was coming down too early and not only countering combo, but countering the top end of an aggro deck, and the midgame of a midrange deck. The nerf made sense for him. Although, it highlights an issue where combo decks are probably popping off way too early if Theotar doesn’t make the cut anymore. I don’t agree with the Renathal nerf though. Certain aggro decks could chew through 40 hp like it was nothing.
bcasue theotra a snot good only against combo decks just for 4 mana. It was used universally to steal whatever good card your opponent had in hand while giving them some useless crap in return
100% agree, while I have no idea what’s going on in standard I find Blizzard in general goes way too far in supporting OTK and stall decks. Very bad gameplay IMO.
