If you build your deck towards highlander, that shouldn’t be invalidated by cards that shuffle into your deck by your opponent. This is not something that needs a “counter” thats just stupid. If the effect is SO op that a counter is required then nerf the effect. But it isn’t. Its stupid to make tech cards that completely invalidate highlander when theres no real play involved on either end. Its just “your rewards for building with restrictions dont work for the next 10-15 turns, have fun!”
run 1 steamcleaner to counter the counter
This is just your opinion. Reno Jackson and Zephyr have received plenty of hate over the years. I’m also not certain how many of these counters exist for the sole purpose of offering a counter to highlander builds, though it’s possible some of them do.
While I understand your point, that just building the deck properly should unlock the benefit, keep in mind that the way it works now allows players to run multiple copies of important cards. This may not be something you do, but it has been popular in the past.
They want it to be like Shadowform. Start of game if you only are running shadow spells, you get shadow form.
You don’t lose shadow form because you copied a holy spell from your opponent.
OP wants highlander to be start of game
This post came straight from 2020
That would sound very interesting! Have all these highlander effects be like: At the start of your game, if your deck has no duplicates, this card gains Effect: X, but also reveal it to your opponent at the beginning of the game! Thus, with the effect revealed, the opponent will now know that there is this huge highlander swing expecting them somewhere midgame, so they can plan ahead!
Or maybe just concede and save time if the opponent is playing a deck that is heavily countered where they know they do not have much of chance (Aggro versus Reno maybe?)
except all the other games you face a non highlander the card is useless… it called a tech card
This would make highlander rogue in wild obnoxious: you can shuffle a lot of copies of your highlander cards and activating them
I’m not sure any singular card should win the game. There needs to be soft counters but not hard counters that, as you say, completely invalidate another deck.
