It’s pretty simple: right now ranking up in Legend is impossible.
Matched against almost always Diamond players, and if you win you lose positions; even if you get another legend player and you win you just get 1/2 positions.
That’s something to fix asap because all the players that now are going to reach legend will stop playing.
Wow I didn’t know that difficulty is hidden in the new convoluted ranking system. It’s just too confusing to understand the new ranking system.
Those legend players are probably gettign matched against other previously-legend players who are still riding a star bonus and thus, running off of MMR instead of just rank.
Something similar happened some years ago where low ranking legend players kept getting matched against 5-L bracket players and in some cases, even lower. They’ll definitely need to fix that.
Yeah, I also was thinking something similar because was legend last month too.
Didn’t know there had already been problems like these in the past, I just hope blizzard realize the issue soon enough; I just can’t play anymore until they fix it
You lose positions if you win? How does that even work?
Well, its still day 1 of the season, people could be entering legend with a higher MMR than you is one reason.
From all accounts, its unlikely to be the biggest contributing factor, but it is one to consider.
I understand that.
But not giving the opportunity to a player to rank up in a game where ranking is the key of the whole thing is embarrassing and wrong, without excuses.
Heck, just roll with it.
Play meme jank to Legend 20k and show just how bad the issue is lol
I 100% agree, and it is definitely an oversight which should be top priority, was just giving a reason it can happen.
I don’t have the same issue. Sure there’d be a Diamond player here and there but if you’re around rank 200, you mostly get matched with other legend players.
Right now I’m 381 after losing something around 70 positions because of the problem I reported.
I played 11 games, 8-3 record, from position 307 to 381.
I don’t think it’s normal.
You seem to be the exception. I played a couple games this evening 3:0 and went up 50 ranks. Perhaps your region is busy and lots of people qualify for legend. Over about 8 hours I dropped 150 ranks without playing anything. It’s also possible you got some bug but it’s definitely uncommon.
AFAIK, legend rank doesnt use stars.
If you get legend 100 early month, stop playing two weeks, then win a match after that, your legend rank dropped after that match you won.
Many people drop rank by not playing.
the only thing I dislike about “new ranking system” are the icons…
they don’t suit the game as much as the older ones…
With the star bonus you gain many stars if you win, and only lose one if you lose.
Even against other legend players, that is for sure going to move you rapidly up the tiers until diamond, which is basically the original rank 5-1.
Even in the old system, you were still going to be playing against legend players from ranks 5 to L after a reset.
My review from the other end of the spectrum - wild player (memer) in the scrub ranks…
THIS IS NOT AN ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE!!! I was perfectly content playing 80% of my games against other memers, now I am facing quest & secret mages, cubelocks, reno priests etc. in 80% of my matches (admittedly only a dozen or so so far, had to log out after that).
My MMR appears to be too high. I havent experienced anything like it since the standard/wild split, even on the first day of a season!
I will give it a bit of time to normalise, but I wont be facing full on meta decks the vast majority of the time like I was for the last couple of hours for too long. You borked something up, Blizzard, now fix it!
Secret mage is the worst ~.~ Unless you play anti secret mage and keep stealing their secrets…cant wait for new Rogue to come out! They gonna be eaten alive!
Still sounds like the pre-pre system to me, where after reset all legends dropped to Rank17: First two days in Rank 17-10 were full of competition, until these players mostly got to rank 5+ and left us “scrub league” players alone.
MMR instead of Rank will lead to a different composition of the ladder, but for those who want to rank up as high as possible it’s more fair than the rank matchmaking system.
Give it a day or two to sort itself out before reaching for The Peasant’s Solution.
I think one issue might be that the reason behind the legend rank falling is obscured: MMR. The legend rank itself is just an ordering of MMRs of legend ranked players; when players are constantly being added to the list of legend players at a high volume, it makes sense that you can go “down” in legend rank even while winning, simply because you’re being “displaced” by players entering with higher MMR than you.
Theoretically, this should happen at the beginning of any Hearthstone season where many players are entering legend simultaneously.
One solution to fix this is un-obscuring the MMRs of players, thus providing a reason behind the “loss” of rank.
Edit: Another solution, in tandem with the first solution, would be the temporary dissolution of legend at the beginning of the season, which is what happens in StarCraft II. (StarCraft II utilizes an entire GM contender leaderboard, and only updates the list of GM players ever 24h or so.) This provides a period of repose when the legend leaderboard would be its most volatile, and would for the most part eliminate this phenomenon entirely.
Im really disgusted ! i got Legend yesterday , my rank was 202 . I won first game my rank gone to 220 , i won an other game and my rank gone to 250 lol . i tried an other time at night same thing . this morning i won 4 games in roll and my rank gone from 540 to 580 .
