Until now i always thought so.
In Wild, my opponent had Objection in play. I used Eater and Objection got rid of it?
I have never seen eater not remove any secret on the board, including minion counters.
Or I have never actually had Objection on the board before? I have used it lots of times in the past on mage and other secrets, and feel it’s unlikely it has never been played against me before.
Explosive Runes does nothing. Duplicate does nothing and many other discovered secrets have all been removed and Eater was buffed.
Bug?
You’ve never had an objection in play while playing eater of secrets before
Short answer is it’s intended
Same way counterspell counters flare
Long answer, summarizing the technicalities of playing a minion : when you play a minion, it goes through multiple phases before the action is done
“Play a card/ play a minion” phase, the moment you pay the cost and the card leaves your hand, which triggers all “whenever you play X” synergies
At that point the minion occupies a board space but is still not considered summoned
“Battlecry/ on play effects” phase, when the effect of its battlecry, finale, combo… Does its things. Note that if those effects were to kill a minion, it would not resolve their death until later
“Summoning” phase, were the minion is finally considered summoned and activates all “whenever” synergies (including Titans summoning their limbs)
And after that, all the “after you do Y” synergies trigger, including the secret checking phase
Usually, secrets wait for the end of all those phases to trigger
Objection is the only known secret to trigger at the very first phase, because it has to prevent all effects from the minion
