You enjoyed the worst meta of all time? Then maybe you’re better off not playing the game
There have been numerous worse metas.
Really? I can hardly believe that… However I missed out about 5 years… But I don’t think there were ever worst meta than current one… these developers have no idea about what to do with this game anymore… I am sure… Because they proves it again, again and again… It is just so pathetic how unbalanced the game became… It was a huge mistake to strenghen up the aggro to an insane level and let the control be with 40 cards because it has too many board clears and discoveries… These were the biggest mistakes in my opinion.
The nerfs are good but if they dont nerf the decks that were good in the old meta we wll go back to the previous meta and so it wont feel like the nerfs brought a new meta.
We now have the same meta i think before the miniset this is my only concernt we are just experiecing an older meta again.
Secondly i dont think rogue deserved the prisonbreaker nerf for the simple reason i believe for alot classes the design has moved away from what classes are traditionaly weak to.
Take hunter for example star power is not a card they usualy have its more a control tool to me personally i feel its unfair that they have this yet rogue loses prison breaker.
Lastly id like odyn warrior to be nerfed maybe otk shaman and mage as well these three decks dont feel fun to lose too and i think alot of players are probably tired of them id even throw mech rogue in there as well i know its a strong rogue however i dont like playing with it.
This is largely because Paladin and Hunter are coasting on cards that they got in Year of the Hydra, mostly MotLK. Particularly Paladin.
We’re not going to see a meta shake-up until Badlands at least, and likely not until the standard rotation, because Nathria and MotLK were so freakishly strong.
Odyn warrior needs to be nerfed along with sif mage mech rogue and otk shaman these decks i feel for me take the fun out of the current meta all of these decks are extremly unfun to face.
Just two examples would be the Stormwind meta and that time they printed a card called Drek’thar.
Hmm, I see… I had no problem with Stormwind Meta, except Priest and Druid. Drek’thar? Oh yeah… I remember that one. They created Diamond card from it sold it in the shop for a lot of gold and money, and then nerfed it… yeah… What a great company xD
I didn’t play the storm wind meta but I did play the drekthar meta and I enjoyed it. I played ramp druid to top 50 in that meta and it felt incredibly hard and rewarding in the sense that I was outplaying people running better decks with an unfavored one.
That said, drekthar was far less “from handy” and far more “snowbally” in the sense that games would snowball out of control quickly.
I’d argue that pure Paladin is a far more offensive deck then drekthar DH ever was, and both are snowball decks. And pure Paladin is probably one of the least offensive decks to go up against in this meta.
So, at least for me, this meta is far worse.
This meta is pretty unfun.
It js somewhat diverse, but unfun.
A lot of peoplendont mind losing games, like well played games, back and forth type of games. But as aerthis said above, it is losing to the OTK decks like sif mage that make for an unfun meta.
Playing against an aggro who kills more than half of your HP in first 5 turns or a control who is using infinite resources can be just as well unfun like OTK… balance is ruined…
So mages just aren’t allowed to kill you, it’s unfun to have spells cast on your face, got it.
Consdering that HS is a digital card game and not a printed one, they clearly have the ability to tweak (or entirely rework) cards instead of outright banning/retconning cards like you’d have to do in a traditional printed game.
I see no harm in having regular, monthly tweaks to cards that overperform or cause problems. It shouldn’t have to be knee-jerk, immediate nerfs to cards (except for extreme circumstances), but I think it is beneficial to the health of the game to have this consistent and routine self-analysis. Some cards, decks, and classes should have their moments in the sun as the known strongest archetypes, but there needs to be a balance. It’s hard to use “fun” as a characteristic because it’s subjective, but ideally it should be at least somewhat factored in when there is a loud uproar against a certain card.
Just my $.02.
I think where this runs into trouble is when you consider people who are free-to-play and have limited ability to shift away from nerfed cards.
Personally, I’m extremely happy with the cadence of balance changes since FoL launched, but also I typically end up with most or all of each set, and always instantly dust things that aren’t in Standard (so I can craft some epics and legendaries that I don’t unpack). If a person wants to be a F2P then they’re out of luck when cards get wrecked since they might not be able to make competitive decks more than once or twice per year.
Don’t you get a boost to the amount of dust you receive for nerfed cards?
Yeah, but it’s still 1-to-1 on rarity value. Doesn’t necessarily mean you can build a completely new deck, since unless your whole 30-40 card list got nerfed, you’re still at a deficit.
Still.
If a nerf makes cards so weak that they aren’t able to see play anymore your nerf turns into a glorified ban.
And prison breaker got exactly that type of nerf for who did not perceive yet.
Hearthstone isn’t a game where tweaks really have a small impact on individual card performance.
Considering that we can come with a long teem policy of:
If a card can’t get a reasonable nerf it should be banned instead.
Reasonable meaning not destroying the individual power of a card.
Same impact with more options for wild.
I’m f2p and I find this statement incorrect. Frequent nerfs are easy dust for f2p players like me.
Thanks for the 3200 dust on Tony and Jailer lmao.
Let’s see…
Undertaker Hunter
Pirate warrior
Raza Priest Vs Cube Warlock Vs Dragon Priest
Jade druid
Quest Mage
Quest Rogue
Shudderwock Shaman
Baku Paladin(or Genn, don’t remember which was more succesful)
The whole first quarter of both Demon hunter and Death Knights (although I liked DK)
Shall I go on?
Especially Undertaker Hunter and Raza priest are prime examples of when just one or two decks steamrolled everything.
There hasn’t been a report on the meta as of yet, but meta had basically gone full greed with all the greatest hits making a come back, greed priest and blood DK showing their ugly faces, and odyn warrior leading the greediest meta yet.
It’s clear Blizzard wanted this because they intentionally deleted Tony and jailer which would be the main counter to all the greed we are seeing.
