I am having a little misunderstanding here. I would love some help or clarification from a good soul around here.
Core set was revealed.
We are getting all those cards for free.
should i dust the ones i already have?
i dont want to dust all my classic collection.
for an example i have cenarius and tyrion. Should i dust them? Since i am getting them for free?
If you dust your Classic cards that are currently in Core, and some of them rotate out of Standard a year later, you will no longer have access to them.
Core Set cards can be used in Wild as well. But you want to keep your copies to use in Classic format.
But arent they giving the cards for free? Are you sure i wont be able to use those cards in wild?
Vanessa van cleef is a new card, so are you sure we wont be able to play her in wild?
Dont you think they are just gonna add the core set to our collection ?
The way they announced is pretty much like basic cards nowadays, we unlock them by playing, and we can use basic cards in both wild and standard.
The cards are not for you to own. If they rotate out in a year you will lose access to them.
There is no rush to decide now anyway. You can always dust cards after the rotation if you feel that you need the dust.
As i understood the cards rotate out of standard but they are still playable in wild. If that was true the new cards wouldnt be able to be played in wild. And as we can see in the CORE SET post, we will be able to use the CORE SET cards in wild.
If they rotate to wild and you dusted the version you own now, you won’t be able to use them in wild anymore.
View it as a separate set that don’t belong to you. Blizzard temporarily gives you access to those cards until they rotate out of the core set, they are not permanently added to your collection for free.
The Core set is all temporary cards.
While they are available in the Core set, you can use them in either Standard or Wild.
When Core cards leave the Core set, however, you will need to still have or get the version from its original set to be able to continue using it in Wild.
They haven’t announced yet exactly what they’ll do with the 29 new cards if they rotate some of them out in the next year.
From Celestalon:
Q: When core sets refresh/swap out after rotation (so next year), will cards that go away be available in wild (if they didn’t originate from there)? Or are those cards removed from the game?
A: It’s too early to tell for sure what the future holds for over a year from now, but the current idea is that any Core-exclusive cards that rotate after this year would move to Legacy. We’ll evaluate that for sure when we get to that point; that’s over a year away.
Maybe you didnt understand, or maybe i can’t express myself right.
In my view we are getting the “core set” cards for free. And i have most of them. I dont think i will get a duplicate, so that’s why i am asking, if i should dust the ones i have and will be in the CORE SET.
Example: I have King Crush, and i will get one for free when the core sets comes. Should i dust it or do you think i will get a duplicate. Cause i dont think we will get duplicates.
In your collection they will show up as separate cards, yes.
Don’t dust it if you have any intention of playing it anytime it leaves the Core set. Or if you want to play it in Classic.
The temporary free one doesn’t replace the original.
What about the 29 new cards? We cant get Vanessa Van cleef from a pack.
You’ll probably need to craft those if they leave the Core set.
They haven’t decided how exactly they’re going to handle that, so we’ll need to wait until closer to when it will become an issue.
So we will get duplicates on the cards we already have? Did they announce it?
thanks for the help BTW.
Yes. The Core cards will be a 2nd copy with their own watermark.
The short answer is don’t dust anything from Classic/Basic. The way the Core set works does not impact your collection in any way that would allow you to gain extra dust.
If you dust krush now you’ll get 400 dust.
Then if it rotates out of the core set, but you still want it for wild/classic, you’ll have to spend 1600 dust to re-craft.
So my vote’s no, assuming I understand the mechanics correctly, which I wouldn’t bet my life on.
(I might bet somebody ELSE’S life on it though)
Bad Soul here.
When core set arrived, it will added to your collections and there will be 2 different versions, one from your old classic sets (will be named Legacy, can be dusted), and one from the new core set (can’t be dusted). Both version retains their latest buffs, e.g. Flamestrike will deal 5 damage in both versions.
All core cards will be obtainable if you level your hero progressively. (up to lv.10), and Golden Core cards will be given progressively when your hero reach lv.60.
- Core set is free, and will rotate each year. New core set will be added automatically if they rotate.
- Core set can be used in all mode except Classic Mode.
- Classic set can only be used in Wild and Classic Mode.
- Classic set can be safely dusted if you don’t play Wild or Classic Mode.
- Classic Mode is using your old classic set as playable cards, but their stats will be different (using 2014 format).
I don’t know what I’m missing. Maybe I’ll add it some more later.
I hope this answered all your doubts.
Any cards you dust will be unavailable in the new Classic format, whether they are in the Core set or not:
This is also important but should be understood by everyone by now:
