I’ve played about 15-20 games and so far 99% of the other players have perfect counters for any card I play. Total crap, waste of time.

I mean… you can always not play Duels. Don’t see why they should scrap the game mode entirely just because you don’t like it. Plenty of people seem to enjoy it.

Simple, they have wasted time on a broken game type that could have been spent on the real game. This game is lazy now, relying way too much on legendaires and random “stuff”. Sad.

This argument would hold more water if it wasn’t for the fact that at the same time as Duels was under development, we got the highest level of dev involvement into other game modes. Battlegrounds was developed and gets constant updates, and constructed has gotten more balance patches (including card buffs!) than ever before.

If anything, they’ve spent too much time/effort tweaking constructed mode. The game was better, IMO, before the Guardian Animals/Tortollan Pilgrim changes. Sure, both decks could be obnoxious to deal with, but the meta felt a lot more diverse than it did since.

battlegrounds is just as bad, wasting time on lame game types while the main game goes down the drain

Congrats on sidestepping the bulk of my argument, I guess. There’s zero evidence that the new game modes resulted in less attention paid to constructed, and plenty of evidence that constructed is getting more attention than it used to. Even if you ignore the emergency Demon Hunter patches of Ashes of Outlands, Scholomance Academy still had plenty of stuff tweaked and changed, far more than how it used to be.

Have you tried learning from your mistakes?

I mean, if you’ve identified that 99% of the players have perfect counters, then maybe you should try to be one of the 99% instead of the 1% that sucks.

I was on the fun end of one of the counters in Duels. Paladin brings a minion back to life with 1 health with hero power. Nozaki does one damage and summons a mana wyrm if the hero power kills. Fortunately the Paladin I faced did not have the deathrattle or divine shield minions to make that matchup more balanced.

Simple advice for players hating Duels because they have completely misunderstood the mode:

Treat it as a crazy Tavern Brawl. Its a mode meant to be played just for casual fun. There is close to zero “skill” (I mean that your play has even less weight to your performance) compared to other “normal modes” because of active and passive treasures that can completely turn every matchup up and down no matter what you or even your opponent do. Its for these crazy funny moments.

If you are player that tends to rage hard about your opponent playing something utterly broken that would break the standard meta (and even wild meta I guess) to shreds, avoid it.
If you tend to rage because there was absolutely nothing you could do because you have lowrolled treasure and buckets and you face opponent that had insane luck, do not play it.

You do not like it? Do not play it. You get a quest for it? Reroll it. Nobody forces you to play it.

I treat it that way and its kinda refreshing. I do not intent to play it as much as ranked, though when I feel urge to play something crazy and get a relax from facing only 2 classes over and over in ranked, I hop there to do a few matches.

It’s just supposed to be a fun meme mode when you need a change of pace. If you’re looking to win, play constructed

A lot of people are willing to support these so called bad game modes. So maybe the problem isn’t Blizzard at all.

Im a multiple legend ranked player, duels doesn’t have much skill at all.

The reason is the hero powers and gimmick “treasure” cards they give you are too strong.

So most games devolve into b.s. draw your lucky card or going face all game.

It is the same thing as saying Arena is no skill, yet some people are consistently better than the others. As a Legend player, you should know this.

No it isn’t. The hero powers aren’t as strong and theres no gimmick cards so making trades and value matters more, at least it used to.

I havent played Arena in months so with the power creep its probably more rng than it used to be.

Back in the day Id consistently go 12 wins with Mage/Rogue

Also a legend player. There’s a reason some are at 6k, some are at 7k, and some can’t break 4k.

I’d argue that consistently getting 7+ wins in duels is far harder than reaching legend in constructed.

But honestly my point was that if you are saying 99% of the people counter you, then you should try being part of that 99% instead of the 1% that gets wrecked.
