If ya cant get under dungar ya moght as well not play a deck other than maybe warrior
We always gonna have a lich king.
In fact it is such a dumb statement to say that people who say that should have to pay a special tax because this is how we go back to chillwind yeti.
The game is already boring enough. We don’t need extra help.
Spotted the Druid player. How do you think Growth / New Horizons into Crystals followed by Dungar is fun? Zilliax is also problematic in both Warrior and Druid. Zilliax needs to not have Elusive, and New Horizons should increase mana cap only by 2 so as to selectively nerf Druid and Warrior in late game matchups.
People keep saying the funniest things. Playing Control Starship DK and Dungar Druid is one of the best matchups for this deck.
Not clear what rank you are playing at but druids should be destroying you.
Druid is problematic because it’s built around one massive power spike that is really hard to control for. If they get it off early enough their chances at winning drastically increase, if not drastically decrease.
But to be fair, that’s the design direction that the dev team is happy with. Pretty much every deck in recent memory has this property, draw correct or die.
Long gone are the days of saner gameplay where incremental decisions mattered. Enter modern day Hearthstone where every turn is a complete reset of the game or simply a lethal turn.
People just dont understand the skill factor of druid… Play ramp… play dungar on turn 5… Its almost as thoughtful as the old big spell mage of play king tide then play a 8 or 9 cost spell, but its not quite as linear so its probably the most skill intensive mana cheat deck standard hearthstone has ever known.
I personally think they should buff druid and create a 1 cost card - your next turn you have 9 mana to bring it more in line with all the other ‘summon a giant board of stuff on turn 5’.
Tbh the problem with druid is not dungar or the amount of ramp spells they got, but the access to mass removal like yogg saron and to lesser extent Zilliax in standard. The class itself is fine since the deck itself plays out like a Russian roulette. It suppose to be high risk high reward strategy but due to access to board clear and maybe mct or Zilliax it made them quite reliable.
I was actually pointing out this problem back in early month when I was playing cycle rogue and hit a brick wall facing druid for 4 consecutive games in a row. Turned out playing cycle rogue is way harder if you aren’t top 100 legend players due to the diversity of the metagame.
They probably build the game for streamers and streamer watchers, not players playing.
It was impressive seeing PocketTrain spamming the board with the Titan in 2023.
A fifth of every druid deck is ramp. Their ability to hit ramp early is all but assured. Couple it with draw and armor gain and you already have a third or more of every druid deck already built. Put in some removal and a bunch of expensive minions of your choice to round it out.
That is basically every druid deck in a nutshell. All the designers have to do is create those high cost cards for them to play in deck. The rest is already assembled. This isn’t something that is likely to change in the near future either. It’s just a very simplistic and effective way to make a class always viable.
FWIW haven’t lost to Dungar Druid today using Grunter Hunter (at least 5 matchups) - just have some taunts up and when Dungar shoots his wad, whittle down the minion’s health with the taunts and then smack them with Grunt + ABJ ftw. If needed, throw down a Catch of the Day to provide a small minion to kill.
It’s not like they are pressuring you at all for 5 or more turns so you can buff the Grunt pretty high / fetch the wincons with Exarch. As long as you pull Reserved Spot to buff and reduce cost of the Grunt, it’s pretty much a cakewalk.
Wait, how is a 3 mana dormant minion with middling payoff in 1-5 turns limiting the meta? Lol
Diamond 5-3. And no, unless they get extremely lucky and highroll Dungar on turn 6 or something when they manage to finally play him their stuff gets blown up by Corpse Explosion, or I have enough life/armor to take a turn or two to clear their stuff anyway. Dungar Druid was one of the best matchups after elemental mage. Big minions are something that Blood DK is especially good at dealing with.
