Go ahead, Whelp ban defenders.
Explain how banning the Whelp and not Doomkin was the right decision.
There is a post right now on the HS Reddit page which shows the non-Druid player at 2 mana while the Druid player is at 10, in Standard, the “fair” mode.
The temporary avoidance of X class because something got nerfed in it is done, the people woke up, Druid is back and is ruining games. Which card do you all think causes that?
Marin the manager
But if I have to choose between Splish-splash and Doomkin, I’m in a problem. On the one hand, at least Splish-splash whelp doesn’t steal a mana crystal from you, but on the other hand, it enables the Doomkin to come too soon
It’s close, but I think Doomkin is worse, because Splish-splash is replacable with Malfurion’s gift → wild growth, but nothing replaces Doomkin’s unique effect.

Doomkin is 10x worse without any question. A 2 mana swing that gets even more devastating with 1 mana versions. There is a reason land destruction barely gets printed in MTG anymore.
I mean, in a way, we’re both right and wrong at the same time.
The actual answer is: it depends on your opponent.
When I play sludgelock or Nature shaman, I don’t care for Doomkin.
Anything else, and it wrecks me.
Sometime after set launch because then druids ramp faster and go to 13 mana. Dont need a 6 mana 3/4 then

you know there’s a way to counter doomkin
don’t play cards
he can only steal an empty mana crystal
You are all welcome
Thaths nice suggestion how to nerf it, it should be rewrite to unused crystal instead of empty crystal
Sure thing chief, and when you do that you can then destroy enemy with will and happy thoughts
