I don’t. It’s just not worth it for me to put in 150 Gold when there’s no guarantee that I’ll break even, much less get enough gold to play it again.
Blizzard keeps changing things in the Arena, seemingly to draw in new players, but I’m probably never going to play it when it’s so much easier and less risky for me to earn gold in normal play. If they want me to play it, they need to buff the rewards so that I don’t lose value if I get less than 3 wins.
Yeah I’ve been playing a bit more Arena recently, I like the fact they keep changing the cards in rotation, keeps the meta fresh and reduces the advantage the Arena specialists have.
I still don’t do very well, but overall I come out a bit ahead of just spending the money on packs, most runs are 2-4 wins, but every few runs I’ll get a good draft and go to 8 or 9 which really helps the value and it’s nice to play something different from standard.
Arena is fun from time to time. Shame there is no power ranking of the deck where you could “shame retire” for 80% gold invested if you havent played single match and while your deck power ranking would be below average…
Sometimes its just pain to watch the garbage the draft is offering you and then force yourself to actually play it.
On the other hand yesterday I had pretty huge luck in the draft and it was awesome run. So I guess the coin flip nature of the arena is not that bad at all.
I play arena, but then again I enjoy the mode so I also watch arena streams know the strong classes each meta etc. I haven’t tracked enough to make sure whether I’m losing or gaining gold by playing it but it’s definitely a cheaper way to get packs. For me a 2 win run is really bad and that’s almost the same as buying a pack from the store. On average the question is whether I’ll make it to 7+ wins or if I get stopped at 6 (I wonder if it’s psychological but it does feel like that 7th win is the hardest one).
If you care about packs, then 6 wins is about 80+ gold unlike the 20 from constructed, 150+ for 7 wins and get all the way to 12 and it can be 400 instead of 40. So arena definitely has worthwhile rewards and if you’re good at it. And if you like the format and keep playing and/or watching arena streams you’ll get good at it. The main question is whether you like the format. If you do, go for it, your initial investment will be returned manyfold. If you don’t then it’s not worth the hassle.
I play magic arena instead of hearthstone and my life has dramatically improved. Now when I see terrible hearthstone puritan art and name changes, cringy set reveal videos and “new” set gimmicks that were in sets 2 years ago I just laugh.
That is not completely true some people form their opinion on all sides of an issue and try to have an opinion that is not biased one way or another. Fan-boi’s like you though take everything out of context just to make HS look good…
I’m infinite in arena or at least very close to it so I can play it unlimited in a row for the most part - can get several packs a day for “free” doing that. Though I rarely have time to do an arena every day let alone several so I just spend the excess gold on packs directly.
nah. you have to be good at hearthstone (i am not) to play arena to get anything out of it… especially since a lot of the time your deck is going to be hot trash and you will need to be able to play well to negate the inherent handicapp.
I like arena tho, Not just for the rewards, but the gameplay feels entertaining to me. Whenever I find the meta too boring I mainly play arena.
Besides, as a ftp player getting good at and grinding arena was my best way of maintaining a big colection so that I can play the decks I like in ladder
