DK and DH stealing the show

DK 5 decks in top 1k

DH 3, but all 3 are in the top 5

It’s too early to say anything about the meta or the expansion, except that it seems that DK and DH have the best class cards in this rotation.

It’s been too long that DK gets away with it. It’s really starting to put pressure up on Pally in their battle for the most “noob-friendly” class in the game, with DH close runner-up and an occassional nerve-wrecker.

Sounds fine by me. I’m starting to enjoy abusing DK.

I agree, and I want to mention that agressive DH can be recommended for players of all ranks. It is not difficult, strong and fast to beat Murloc Paladins and Loh Druids regularly.
Starship DK can be recommended for legend players with a note that they should not play defensively against Murloc Paladin, their main wincon in this matchup is launching Starship and triggering its deathrattle as soon as possible.

It’s not really tho, because all those top decks are base on old archetype with very small tweak with new cards (1 new card in starship DK, 1 in menagerie DK and 2 in attack DH). We can say that they have better new card that fit old archetype than other classes.
I think it’s safe to say that beside of Loh Druid and Murloc pally (and maybe a slightly wilted priest), the whole expac is underwhelming. It’s less incentive to have new cards or new synergy in your deck than other expac. So people are not excited to buy more packs or craft new legendary cards.
It might also cause bz sales to drop, so I think we might see a lot of buffs (mostly new legends, or cards have synergy with new legends).

They say two things are guaranteed in life. Death and taxes

Well, two things are guaranteed in hearthstone Paladin and DK will be viable.

They give these two classes everything.

You’re better off doing what I do and just playing DK.

And if by some miracle paladin and DK are not viable, you can absolutely positively guarantee Druid has some sort of mega scam mana cheating deck.

It’s never going to change might as well just accept fate and pick one of those classes.

I can confirm that it works against the Zoo DK the same way, the sooner the better, there’s always a second one if needed

True, I was just being more dramatic while stating the same, because current rotation includes core cards + the previous two expansions, hence, their class cards this rotation are the best. It might even be a bit more precise than what I just quoted, because it includes the core cards (and I don’t know if there exists a rule they’re using to pick them out of the total pool, or how they do it)

Either way, it seems that its gonna take a few expansions to neutralize that advantage. Those two classes are to this rotation, what Shaman and Warlock were for the previous one, dare I say (Paladin is not counted here, because its situation remains the same throughout the whole period xD)

Hmm, I wouldn’t rush this far with conclusions. First of all, both decks are underwhelming. Drunk Pally is still the highest winrate Pally deck in top 1k (although its sample is 8x lower, so that’s not quite as convincing as I’d like it to sound, but still) and Loh Druid is 1 place above, and together they form the bottom of the positive winrate decks in top 1k, which according to my criteria means they’re “barely playable”.

Furthermore, the sheer number of aggro decks in the top 1k points to the meta still being in the stage of formation. They’re simply capitalizing on unoptimized decks. Give it time. It’s simply not possible that a meta as controlly as the previous one shifts this much due to ANY expansion, let alone some perceived as weak as this one.

It’s not in the realm of theoretical possibility.

The best my experience allows me to try and predict is that DK and DH both will be among the winners of this expansion, and I think their best decks will be slower, rather than faster, but most likely a bit faster than they were 5 days ago.

As someone who was playing menagerie DK last expansion, yeah, starship/control DK just eats that deck alive. I wasn’t expecting this expansion to shake that up any.

And it didn’t, and it won’t.

The only way in which I could conclude that managerie DK > starship DK is that right now, in this moment, until the meta settles, so temporarily, it’s a faster deck to use to grind to the 3-digit ranks, but from then on, playing it will always cost you more than you gain by speeding things up

Once that temporary, “honeymoon phase” ends, it’s back to good, ol’ control decks, boring as hell, with starship DK wearing the crown as usual

And then we can go back to asking for Zoo Priest nerfs because it’s the only aggro deck that seems to thrive in such a meta (probably due to insanities like 2 mana 4/6 taunt with lifesteal or a 1 mana 4/7 and similar shannanigans)

I mean it’s not really a surprise that older decks are the flavor of the moment. The set itself is overall ineffective outside of a few gimmicks. Even those won’t last much longer as the hyper aggro game that has existed since rotation and one that THEY THEMSELVES forced upon us.

Give me 10 minutes to mess with the Core set and i could bring about a better game than the one we currently have. They wouldn’t like it though.

I believe you, lol, since I don’t think they could have curated it in anyway possible which would turn out to be worse than the actual one xD

It seems as if they filtered based on “expected total value” and selected only the worst ones

First hint being bringing back Steamcleaner to Core.

“Here you go, now you can do something about all those asteroid decks!” yeah except since rotation you rarely see an asteroid deck, it’s more about armor/health gain
