Discussion: Voting Wild Cards Back Into Standard

(Whoa, two topic from me in an hour?! You bet I’m bored!)

As I’m playing some Minecraft, lonely as hell because my narcoleptic girlfriend fell asleep, I ponder to myself. Mining Nether Quartz gets pretty boring so might as well do something while zoning out and watching Youtube.

Anyways, I start to think of the Hall of Fame and it’s inclusion into the game, and what it’s done to keep cards in check. (At least for Standard :c) What if we had something the opposite?

So I start to think on this idea. I’m really torn on this being a good feature or not and I’d love to have people either talk some sense into me for being dumb and telling me to finally go to sleep and log off Minecraft, or if this could be an idea with some tweaking, who knows.

Anyways, every expansion comes a ballot of sorts. Players can vote on any card in the Wild set and those cards will be brought back into Standard until voted out. (We’ll get to this later.) Every expansion, 2-4 cards (I dunno, not very specific with the idea yet) on the top of the ballot are then just put back into standard. This stays until once every 3 expansions, players can vote the same number of cards voted in (2-4) voted out of standard.

Maybe you can remove voting out entirely, it’s not like these are a lot of cards at a time anyways. You can call the cards “Immortals” and have a page for them similar to how the Hall of Fame does. And… that’s it. You can just vote cards in and keep them in Standard. If we have some cards out of Standard, why not have some in?

I’m not sure how this idea would benefit the game or make it worse, it just sorta popped into my head. I mean, I like it more than Blizzard reprinting Wild cards in standard, but them being slightly different.

So, what do you guys think about this? Ideas of your own? Lemme know!

Please.

I’m really lonely right now.

They will just print a version of a previous card.

Defile is a much needed card in the reborn meta.

Well they will, yeah.

Or they can do this, I dunno. That’s the point of the post.

Giving one class (besides Shaman, which I will loathe. Thank you devs for Plague of Murlocs!) a cheap and straight counter to a mechanic that has not even been tested, is a bad idea.

I think maybe the devs should offer a selection of Wild cards for us to vote on after the VS report is released and the metagame has stabilized a bit. This could keep the metagame fresh, and quite possibly prevent some nerfs.

Temporarily introducing tech cards from Wild into Standard could be a very healthy thing for Standard. Once the next xpac arrives, we can repeat the process: keep the same card or choose a different one.

I think it definitely has merit.

Or simply every year or two, a few cards from wild should be swapped into Classic. A common idea bouncing around the boards. Enables things like a perennial Whizbang, which would be great for newer players still building their collection.

Not the topic, Gwyneth.

I’d rather die on my feet than live a lifetime on my knees.

Edited with a response to the main topic.

I still do not see where I mentioned Big Priest.

I fear Shaman may (possibly) end up being the next “Big Priest”, meta-wise.
Only stronger.
But that concern I put into parentheses.

The Reborn mechanic does not need counters, until we know that it actually requires them to ensure a healthy meta.

I edited it once again for clarity. Must have gotten my threads mixed up or something.

That’s fair.
Happens to the best of us.
Except me.

Because I’m literally perfect.

Is this gonna work like everyone gets a copy? Or does it have to be crafted?

I think it’s an interesting idea that has some merit.

Maybe it was someone else with the same avatar? I think I should probably have a psych evaluation done…

It would probably have to be crafted.

Or more/higher quality sleep. Maybe less stress?
That stuff screws with your head really hard, if you let it.

I wouldn’t trust most of the people on this forum to run a bath, let alone an entire format.

Then again, I think about as much of the blizzard devs at the moment, so this voting thing might not be a bad idea.
